Rudeus Greyrat.
That name is extremely well-known.
Today, his name can be found inscribed in countless places across the world.
Many people have had the experience of casually noticing text that reads "Rudeus Greyrat."
In the corner of the teleportation devices installed in every country, on the colophon of the new magic textbooks sold worldwide, on the corner of a bridge along the highway.
His name is scattered across a truly diverse array of locations.
In the present day, it would be rare to go through life without encountering his name.
However, if asked what exactly he did, many people would tilt their heads in puzzlement.
Some recognize him as "the strongest magician representative of the 400s of the Armored Dragon Calendar."
Some recognize him as "the God of Learning who revolutionized school education."
Some recognize him as "an intellectual who gave revolutionary influence to the culture of paintings, dolls, toys, and the like."
That said, records of him having started or left behind something on his own are exceedingly few.
When it comes to magic, Silent Seven Star's name comes first.
When it comes to education, Roxy M. Greyrat's name comes first.
When it comes to art, Zanoba Shirone's name comes first.
All of them are names that precede Rudeus Greyrat.
Because of this, opinions exist that he was merely "a sycophant skilled at flattering the strong," or "a con man who latched onto the talented and snatched away only the glory."
Some even argued that "Rudeus is not a personal name, but a title given to those who achieved great deeds within the Rudeud Mercenary Corps. Therefore, multiple people bearing the name existed."
Rudeus Greyrat.
Though there are many theories, it is certain that he accomplished something in this world and had a tremendous impact.
However, that will never again come to light, and will fade into the distant reaches of people's memories.
This represents the loss of historically valuable information.
Therefore, I have decided to create an additional individual entry for Rudeus Greyrat in the Asura Kingdom Archives.
"Year 485 of the Armored Dragon Calendar — Director of the Asura Kingdom Archives, Ged Bluewolf"

Rudeus Greyrat
---
**Overview**
Rudeus Greyrat (Year 407 – Year 481 of the Armored Dragon Calendar) was a magician from the Ranoa Kingdom. In the year 430, he became the Seventh of the Seven Great Powers.
Alongside Roxy M. Greyrat and Silent Seven Star, he is counted among the representative magicians of the 400s.
His epithets include "Quagmire," "Right Arm of the Dragon God," "Mage King," "Archmage," and "Chantless," among others.
He was also the "God of Learning," having dramatically raised the literacy rate across the entire Central Continent.
On the other hand, due to his cowardice in battle, he was also called "Skulker," "Headbowed," "Weakling," "Fleeing Hare," and the like.
In his later years, having accumulated many different names, he came to be known as "Seven-Named Rudeus."
---
**Biography**
• Early Life
In Year 407 of the Armored Dragon Calendar, he was born in Buena Village, Fittoa Region of the Asura Kingdom, as the eldest son of Paul (388–423), a lower-ranking knight of the Asura Kingdom, and Zenith (390–459), a former adventurer and healing magician.
The young Rudeus is said to have been manipulating intermediate-tier magic by the age of three. Recognizing his talent, his father Paul hired Roxy Migurdia (born 373) as a tutor, and under the Spartan education she provided, Rudeus became a Saint-class water magician by the age of five.
Although Rudeus would later surpass his teacher in talent, he reportedly continued to respect her until his death.
At the age of seven, his talent was recognized, and he was invited to serve as tutor to the lord of the Fittoa Region at the time, Boreas Greyrat.
He taught magic to Eris Boreas Greyrat (later the Mad Sword King Eris), while also beginning to create dolls using earth magic.
Although he showed talent beyond his years, he is said to have shed tears appropriate to his age from loneliness, as his parents failed to appear even on his tenth birthday.
In Year 417, the Teleportation Incident occurred, and he was transported along with Eris to the Biegoya region of the Demon Continent.
There, he befriended Ruijerd Superdia, who was feared at the time as "Dead End," became an adventurer, and traveled from the Demon Continent to the Fittoa Region of the Asura Kingdom on the Central Continent.
It is said that during this journey, he met Zanoba Shirone and Cliff Grimoire, who would become his lifelong friends.
At the age of thirteen, after delivering Eris to the Fittoa Region, he set out to the northern Central Continent to search for his missing family, and gained fame as the adventurer "Quagmire Rudeus."
• Student Days
In Year 422, he relocated to Sharia, the magic city of the Ranoa Kingdom, and was admitted to the Magic University on the recommendation of Jinas Halfas.
He defeated Linia Dedoldia, Pursena Adoldia, Silent Seven Star, and the Immortal Demon King Badigadi, earning renown as the strongest magician at the Magic University.
The following year, at the age of sixteen, he married Sylphiette, a magician and long-time acquaintance who served as a bodyguard to Ariel Anemoi Asura.
It is said that at this time, he decided to put down roots in Sharia and spend his life there.
That same year, he received word from his father Paul on the Begaritto Continent that his mother Zenith had been found, and he set out on a journey.
Using a Teleportation Magic Circle that had survived by chance, with the cooperation of Silent Seven Star, he crossed to the Begaritto Continent.
Together with Paul, Elinalise Dragonroad, Talhand, Geese, Roxy Migurdia, and others, he conquered the Teleportation Labyrinth.
In the battle against the Manatite Hydra, the ruler of the labyrinth, his father Paul was killed. Although his mother Zenith was rescued, she was left in a vegetative state due to the effects of the teleportation, and Rudeus is said to have fallen to the depths of despair.
It was his teacher Roxy Migurdia who saved him from the depths of that despair, and because of this, Rudeus took her as his second wife.
In Year 425, in a forest near Sharia, he fought alongside Eris Boreas Greyrat against the Dragon God Orsted.
After a battle that leveled an entire forest, he was defeated and became a subordinate of Orsted.
The reason for the battle is unknown, though there is a theory that the Dragon God Orsted had intended to harm Ariel Anemoi Asura, and Rudeus fought to protect her.
Also, after this battle, he took Eris Boreas Greyrat as his third wife.
That same year, as an ally of Ariel Anemoi Asura, he participated in the Asura Kingdom's civil war.
He fought against the Northern Emperor Obert Colbert, the Northern King Wi Tarr, and the Water God Reidar, and emerged victorious. He was called the driving force who placed Ariel Anemoi Asura on the throne.
In Year 427, in Sharia, he established the "Rudeud Mercenary Corps."
Although he took the position of president, all practical operations were reportedly left to his younger sister Aisha.
In Year 427, at the age of twenty, he participated alongside Zanoba Shirone, as allies of Pax Shirone, in the defense of the Shirone Kingdom.
At Fort Caron, he engaged forces from the north.
In this war, the number of people killed by Rudeus is said to have exceeded ten thousand.
In Year 429, after graduating from the Magic University, he traveled to the Holy Kingdom of Millis with Cliff Grimoire.
The details of this trip are not recorded, but it is said that he deepened his friendship with the Holy One and helped Cliff Grimoire secure a key position within the Millis Church.
In Year 430, together with the Dragon God Orsted, he participated in the war of the Biheiril Kingdom.
During the battle, he defeated the Northern God Kalman III and became the Seventh of the Seven Great Powers.
• Seven Great Powers Era
After becoming one of the Seven Great Powers, Rudeus withdrew from the public stage.
This is said to be the reason his recognition is lower compared to other great figures of the same era.
(In terms of recognition, the "Seven Star Witch" Silent Seven Star, who emerged as if taking Rudeus's place, and Roxy M. Greyrat, who became the president of the Magic University, are both more widely known.)
Therefore, the fact that he held the seventh position among the Seven Great Powers is not widely known.
Some theories held that Rudeus had died in the war of the Biheiril Kingdom and that the person who appeared afterward was a body double or existed in name only, but these were quickly refuted because records existed of his involvement in the founding of the Ariel National University.
What Rudeus was trying to do after withdrawing from the public stage is unknown.
According to documents, as a subordinate of the Dragon God Orsted, he maintained friendly relations with Zanoba Shirone, president of the Magic Doll Guild, Cliff Grimoire, Pope of the Millis Church, the Holy One of the Millis Church, Ariel Anemoi Asura, King of the Asura Kingdom, Randolph, the God of Death of the Dragon King Kingdom, the Dedoldia tribe of the Great Forest, and the Undying Demon King Atofe of the Demon Continent, and was working to unite the world in preparation for the resurrection of Laplace, who was expected to return in eighty years.
On the other hand, there are also documents that describe him as a great criminal who broke taboos, revived teleportation magic for the world, and used its convenience to plot world conquest.
• Death
In Year 481, his death was announced by his wife Sylphiette Greyrat.
The cause of death was old age. He ended his seventy-four-year life, passing away peacefully in his bed at home.
His funeral was an extraordinary affair, with as many as five thousand people in attendance.
Among the attendees was the Dragon God Orsted, who had been even more absent from the public stage than Rudeus himself.

**Equipment Used**
While ordinary magicians equip staves and specialize in long-range suppression attacks, Rudeus was known for actively engaging in close combat.
• The Arrogant Water Dragon King
A staff said to have been given to him by the Boreas household on his tenth birthday.
The staff's core is from an Elder Treant found in the eastern Great Forest of the Millis Continent.
The magic stone is an ultramarine water magic stone, a rank-A specimen taken from a stray sea dragon off the northern coast of the Begaritto Continent.
Its creator is Chein Procyon, a staff craftsman of the Asura Kingdom.
It was an extremely powerful staff, but after the completion of the "Magic Armor" described below, it was reportedly rarely used.
• Magic Armor "Type I"
A prototype magic armor created with the cooperation of Zanoba Shirone, Cliff Grimoire, and others.
Its size is just under three meters.
It wields a Stone Cannonball Gatling in its right hand, and a shield and mana-absorbing stone in its left.
Although it consumes vast quantities of mana, it is said to provide attack and defense power comparable to that of the current Seven Great Powers.
It was built to fight the Dragon God Orsted, and continued to be used afterward, but was destroyed by the Fighting God in the war of the Biheiril Kingdom.
• Magic Armor "Type II"
A jet-black suit of armor separated into arm parts, leg parts, and torso parts. A detuned version of "Type I."
By wearing it, one gains physical capabilities on par with a Saint-class swordsman.
• Magic Armor "Type Zero"
Rudeus's decisive weapon, said to have been used in the war of the Biheiril Kingdom.
Details are unknown.
• Magic Armor "Type III"
A magic armor said to have been used by Rudeus in his later years.
Its size is just over two meters, and its performance is on par with "Type I."
This magic armor is said to be the progenitor of the subsequent universal Magic Armor series.
• Stone Cannonball Gatling
A bundle of staff-type magic tools that fire Stone Cannonballs without regard for mana consumption.
When activated, Stone Cannonballs are fired in rapid succession at tremendous speed, consuming enough mana to cause instant mana exhaustion in an ordinary person.
Its creator is Jaklin, a magic tool craftsman of the Ranoa Kingdom.
• Stone Cannonball Shotgun
A modification of the above Gatling, configured to fire twelve shots at once.
Its creator is Jaklin, a magic tool craftsman of the Ranoa Kingdom.
• Paul's Sword
A mana-infused item with the ability to cut more easily through harder materials.
Paul's Sword is more famous in this form, but it is said to be a different sword from the one Paul used during his adventurer days.
---
**Magic Used**
Rudeus was proficient in magic of all attributes, but true to his epithet "Quagmire," he was particularly skilled in earth and water.
It is said that he used various types of magic suited to each battle, but the following are the main ones he employed.
• Stone Cannonball
A widely known intermediate-tier magic.
A magic that launches a fist-sized chunk of rock at high speed to strike the opponent.
However, when Rudeus cast it without incantation, a single blow possessed enough power to scatter an Undying Demon King.
Variations include the Explosive Stone Cannonball and the Scatter Shot.
• Quagmire
A composite magic that has become synonymous with Rudeus.
It is said that Rudeus was able to manifest a quagmire large enough to engulf an entire town.
• Dense Fog
Like the above, a composite magic that has become synonymous with Rudeus.
It is said that he could manifest fog dense enough to blanket an entire forest.
• Lightning Strike
A unique magic of Rudeus's own creation, a miniaturized version of the King-class Water Magic "Lightning Flash."
Rudeus made extensive use of this magic in close combat, and is said to have incapacitated Undying Demon Race warriors in a single blow.
• Shockwave
A wind magic that vibrates the air to blow away the opponent.
Rudeus used this magic in close combat, and is said to have fought with movements akin to flying through the air.
---
**Research**
Throughout his lifetime, Rudeus researched and developed various types of magic and magic tools.
He also provided funding to numerous fields of research.
• Method for Learning Chantless Magic
Rudeus Greyrat is said to have been using chantless magic since early childhood. His teacher, Roxy M. Greyrat, formalized his method of chantless magic into an academic paper and established a learning method. This learning method was actively incorporated into magical education in the Three Magic Nations and the Asura Kingdom, helping to produce many outstanding magicians.
• Mana Restoration Potion
Silent Seven Star received funding from Rudeus and developed a beverage that restores mana.
The development of this Mana Restoration Potion shattered the common sense that a magician's worth was determined by their mana reserves, and when combined with the above learning method, is said to have contributed greatly to the elevation of magicians' status — enough that "the era of swordsmen's dominance came to an end."
• Magic Arm (Prosthetic)
The Magic Arm has helped large numbers of the poor and adventurers who could not receive Saint-class or higher healing magic.
The Magic Arm is said to be the result of research by Zanoba Shirone and Cliff Grimoire, funded by Rudeus. It was Silent Seven Star who spread it throughout the world as a medical device rather than a magic tool.
• Magic Armor
It was said that only Rudeus could operate the Magic Armor, but the Greyrat family's third daughter, Lily Greyrat, inherited the research and completed the universal Magic Armor in Year 483, which has been useful in reducing the risk of subduing large magical creatures.
• Magic Dolls
Zanoba Shirone received funding from Rudeus and succeeded in developing Magic Dolls.
Humanoid dolls could be assigned to various tasks: companionship, errands, poison tasting, reconnaissance, and more.
However, because they were extremely expensive and few in number, they are currently used only in the royal palaces of countries that had personal ties with Rudeus.
• Teleportation Magic Circle
Silent Seven Star received funding from Rudeus and researched the teleportation magic circles, which were considered taboo, ultimately reviving them.
By placing teleportation magic circles in prominent locations across various countries, long and dangerous journeys became unnecessary, and it became possible to easily travel to distant lands.
It is said that Rudeus touched upon this taboo in reflection of his father Paul's death in the Teleportation Labyrinth.
Some say that it was Silent Seven Star who actually conducted the research and that Rudeus was merely its sponsor, but merchants and nobles of old, as well as members of the Millis Church, inexplicably condemned Rudeus as "the one who broke the taboo."
• Writings and Ciphers
The records of the above research are said to be written in "The Books of Rudeus," a collection of fifty-two volumes, but all of them are written in a cipher used exclusively between Rudeus and Silent. Since the decryption is incomplete, their credibility is low.

**Character**
• He was approximately 175 cm tall and had a muscular, sturdy build for a magician. His skin was fair, and his eyes were mismatched — his left eye was a precognitive eye and his right eye a clairvoyant eye. There are no descriptions of his appearance specifically calling him handsome, but his wife Sylphiette reportedly said that when she first met him at the Magic University, "I stared at his face for just a few seconds and my knees nearly gave out." His other wives, Eris Greyrat and Roxy M. Greyrat, made no comments about his appearance, but it is thought that it was likely not that bad.
• He was said to favor a gray robe with no head covering. In his youth, he was indifferent to his appearance — records remain that at the Magic University he "wore a robe with frayed hems like a vagrant," and that at the Asura Kingdom he "appeared before the audience hall in an odd outfit, causing several nobles to frown." By the time he was past twenty, he had reportedly become more conscious of his appearance, and around the year 430, the Armored Dragon King Perugius commented that "he has started dressing properly lately." While indifferent to his appearance, he was also a cleanliness enthusiast who had converted an entire room in his home into a massive bathing chamber and reportedly bathed almost daily.
• In Sharia at that time, Rudeus was feared, yet he was more respected and beloved than any other magician. This can be seen from the lavish funeral, the large number of attendees, and the stone monument inscribed with Rudeus's words that was erected in a corner of the Magic University.
• His personality was described as gentle, kind, and sociable, but he was also said to be extremely lecherous. Descriptions remain of him touching his wives' bodies without restraint in public, though some argue that the lechery is a rumor — in reality he was a devoted family man who never strayed beyond his three wives. Moreover, he had such a mild temperament that he never lost his smile even when subjected to slander or violence, yet when his family or friends were harmed, he would fly into a rage like fire and sometimes resort to violent action.
Regarding Rudeus's personality, the following anecdotes exist:
At a party in the Asura Kingdom, when a certain noble insulted Rudeus's wife, Rudeus seized him by the scruff of the neck, dragged him out of the party, burned an entire forest to ashes before his eyes, and demanded an apology.
When his allies Linia and Pursena destroyed a doll modeled after Rudeus's wife, Rudeus punished them in a manner considered the most humiliating to the Beast Race.
When Perugius invited him to his floating fortress to name his child, Rudeus appeared in full armor, mistaking it as an attempt to harm his child, and threatened Perugius that he would not hesitate to wage war if his child was harmed.
However, almost none of these anecdotes are considered credible.
Although not a widely known figure in general, most of the world's famous individuals know of Rudeus and hold him in either reverence or fear.
After his death, a white cloth was found in his pocket, and his wife Roxy hurriedly hid it, leading to rumors that some great secret may have been concealed within — though the truth is unknown.
He is said to have been the first person in the world to discover the principle of mana capacity enhancement in childhood, and to have incorporated it into education.
His favorite foods were rice, eggs, and Biheiril demon water. He also reportedly had the bad habit of eating eggs raw.
He is said to have worshipped an evil deity of unknown identity. However, no god matching the emblem he worshipped exists, and it is believed to have been either an ancient god that perished long ago or a deity that Rudeus himself created.
There are also theories that he was an atheist, or that he worshipped the Dragon God.
