Description

The trueborn daughter of Paul and Zenith, born on the same day as Aisha. Her first impression of her brother was a terrible one: as a little girl she saw Rudeus strike their father and came to hate him, convinced he would kill Paul. This animosity, fed by everyone's praise of her brother and sister, dragged on for years.

After the Teleportation she was for a time raised by her grandmother of the Millis Latreia line, who despised Aisha and Paul for their "blood muddied by adventuring" and drilled Norn in etiquette. Unwilling to stay with her grandmother, Norn begged her father to take her with him, but Paul sent her north to Rudeus, promising to come as soon as he found Zenith.

Personality

Hardworking and conscientious, but tormented by a sense of her own inadequacy. Beside her prodigy half-sister Aisha and her genius brother Rudeus, she forever felt she was lagging behind: no matter how much she trained, she could not reach them. When something did not work out, she would hide under the covers and cry, unable to cope on her own.

For all her timidity, she proved inwardly strong: unlike Rudeus in his past life, she managed to sort out her own feelings and overcome her fear on her own. She was deeply attached to her father and to Ruijerd, who comforted her in hard moments.

Story

Having settled in Rudeus's house, Norn lived in constant fear of her brother and in resentment that he, unlike their father, had married without waiting for their mother's return. To avoid running into him and being forever compared to Aisha, she moved into the dormitory at the Magic University, where she was looked after by a neighbor of a demon race.

When grief and helplessness all but broke her, Rudeus came to her at the dormitory himself and honestly admitted that he did not understand her and did not know how to help. In that admission Norn saw her father — and realized that her brother, like Paul, would never strike her. Having cried all night on his chest, she made up with him and for the first time called him "big brother."

Having grown stronger, Norn began to train in fencing, including under the returned Eris, with whom she unexpectedly became friends over a shared love of Ruijerd. In her later years she married and became a writer: from her pen came the in-world "Adventures of the Superd Race," "Adventures of the Great Mage Rudeus," and the autobiography "An Ordinary Person Among Geniuses."

Trivia

In the Asura Kingdom reference work Norn is directly called a writer — it is her books that serve as the in-world sources for Rudeus's biography.

She and Aisha, half-sisters of the same age, were rivals from childhood, and Norn always felt she stood in the shadow of the more gifted Aisha.

She titled her autobiography "An Ordinary Person Among Geniuses" — a bitter irony about her own place in a family of prodigies.
