Description

A daughter of the Boreas Greyrat house, which held the Fittoa region. The seven-year-old Rudeus was invited to be her live-in tutor in magic and etiquette; the wild, unbridled "young lady" gradually grew close to him. Sparring with Rudeus, she honed her swordsman's instincts.

Appearance

Tall for a woman, a stately girl with red hair. After years of training at the Sword Sanctuary, the childish softness of her face was gone, giving way to the stern beauty of a grown woman; her body, firmly taut and clearly trained, is hidden under a leather jacket, a turtleneck, and trousers convenient for combat. She is, in Rudeus's words, "a pleasure to look at."

Personality

Hot-tempered, willful, a proud "tsundere": a person of pure impulse and intuition, she fences and lives alike by instinct. Touch her without leave and you will get a blow. At the same time she is deeply devoted to Rudeus and capable of self-sacrifice: in the battle with Orsted she tried to shield him at the cost of her own life.

Her years at the Sword Sanctuary taught her restraint: on her return she surprised everyone with her silence, having curbed her habitual wildness. Having mastered, alongside intuition, a reasoned approach as well, she became more patient and even took to teaching fencing to Norn and her own children.

Story

The Teleport Incident flung Eris, together with Rudeus, into the Begoya region of the Demon Continent. Together with Ruijerd Superdia, the two of them became adventurers and made the long journey back across the continents to the Fittoa region. Having delivered Eris home, Rudeus parted from her.

In secret, Eris went off to the Sword Sanctuary for years of harsh training — she resolved to become strong enough to one day fight at Rudeus's side against Orsted, having seen how he was preparing for just such a battle. When Rudeus did indeed fight the Dragon God, Eris appeared at the last moment and shielded him with her own body.

Returning as a Sword King and finding Rudeus already with two wives, Eris felt it almost as a betrayal, but the family accepted her, and after a long, silent misunderstanding she and Rudeus made up — she became his third wife. Eris bore a son, Ars, and later a daughter, Christina, and took to teaching the children swordsmanship.

Powers & Abilities

An outstanding swordswoman of the Sword God Style, having attained the rank of Sword King at the Sword Sanctuary. Her strokes are swift and beautiful — even Rudeus's foreseeing eye cannot always keep up with her blade. A fighter of pure intuition, she nonetheless also mastered the rational approach without which one cannot become a Sword King; Rudeus ranked her alongside Ruijerd and Orsted among those capable of defeating Paul in hand-to-hand combat.

Trivia

In the Asura Kingdom reference work Eris is called the "Queen of Blades" (the Mad Sword King) — one of the strongest swordswomen of her era.

She unexpectedly became close friends with Norn over a shared love of Ruijerd and became her mentor in fencing.

Of all Rudeus's wives, it was Eris who changed the most in appearance — yet thanks to her tireless training she looked noticeably younger than her same-age husband.
