Team
A small team + AI tools + community. Honest, with no exaggeration.
Current lineup
Ranobeki is currently developed by a single founder in their spare time, with substantial use of modern AI tools (Claude, GPT, Gemini) for writing code, translating content, and preparing technical solutions. This is a deliberate choice: modern LLMs let one person build and maintain infrastructure that in 2020 would have required a team of 5-10 people.
This does not mean "AI does all the work." An LLM is a tool in human hands: every translation is checked against the curated glossary, every architectural decision is made deliberately, and every Wiki page goes through manual review for the main entities.
Where the community helps
We are open to reader participation. Specifically, we benefit from help with:
- Finding errors — typos, grammatical inaccuracies, incorrect inflections
- Correcting names and terms — especially from readers who know the original in its source language (CN, KR, JP) and can see that our translation of a term could be improved
- Suggesting series for the queue — we try to translate what the community wants, not what an algorithm picks
- Wiki additions — facts we missed or described inaccurately
We will have an open system for suggestions and edits — for now, any remarks can be sent through the contact page.
Respect for our predecessors
This project exists thanks to years of work by fan translation communities. We want to explicitly express our respect to the teams whose translations became the foundation of the genre in the languages we need:
- Wuxiaworld, Webnovel, Eminent Translations — official and fan EN translations of Chinese web novels
- Ranobelib, ruranobe, tl.rulate, ranobes.com — fan teams in Russian
- RoyalRoad, Royal Road authors — independent EN web novel authors
- Munpia translators, Syosetu fan-translators — KR and JP translations
- Fandom wikis — especially lordofthemysteries.fandom.com, whose structured data on characters and locations we use as a reference
We do not compete with them — we do what they lacked the capacity, speed, or language coverage to do. Once our pipeline stabilizes and financial resources appear, we would like to consider forms of partnership with these teams to expand a premium quality tier (optional, at their discretion).
