Description

Practical, frugal, and tireless. Built the convoy that carried Lorist's growing entourage from Morant through the Madrass principality back to the Northern Lands, then ran the supply line for every major Norton campaign after.

Speaks his mind to Lorist when he thinks a plan wastes coin — and is usually right.

**Sedekamp's earlier story.** Ten years before the main plot, he led the Norton trading caravan that delivered Little Locke to the Dawn Academy in Morant and stashed the title papers in the academy office. After the family's collapse he criss-crossed the southern continent for a decade looking for the boy, eventually finding him through tavern gossip.

**Convoy chief.** Builds the seven-station relay that walks the Lorist column from Madrass to the Northern Lands in winter; counsels Lorist to take the lower Mitoburo ford rather than the Henderlif bridge in ch 82 specifically to avoid Duke Lukins's perimeter.

Personality

Practical, frugal and tireless. He will flatly contradict Lorist when he thinks a plan wastes coin — and is usually right.

Devoted to the point of self-effacement. For ten years he guarded twenty gold coins of the old Krisen Empire set aside for Locke's journey home, never spending a single copper, begging for food and hauling cargo at the docks rather than dip into his master's money.

Background

As a boy he was Little Locke's personal attendant: a simple, honest lad forever trailing behind with the cry, "Young master, wait for me…"

Ten years before the main story he led the Norton trading caravan that delivered Little Locke to the Dawn Academy in Morant and left the inheritance papers in the academy office. After the family's fall he crisscrossed the southern continent for a decade searching for the boy.

Story

In ch 41 he finds Lorist in Morant — a ragged beggar who recognises his young master, throws his arms around his legs and tearfully begs him to return: the head of house and both elder brothers are dead, and there is no heir left but Lorist. He at once hands over the twenty gold coins he had saved.

He assembles the very convoy that brings Lorist's retinue out of Morant through the Madrass principality into the Northern Lands, and thereafter carries the supply line for every major campaign. In ch 82 he advises taking the lower Mitoburo ford rather than the bridge, to skirt Duke Lukins's perimeter.

In ch 85 he leads a detachment with Knight Jossk and Patt to seize the copper mine. He remains with the family for years after: in ch 543 he sends word on how best to settle the new migrants.

Holdings

He runs the family caravan and the Norton supply network: organising convoys, relay stations and the army's provisioning on campaign. It is his convoy that walks Lorist's column from Madrass to the north through winter.
