Yost

After being defeated near Fenyata, Yost led a band of two-to-three hundred former bandits into Lorist's escort regiment, eventually patrolling the roads of Maple Forest Estate as a convoy lieutenant.

A hard-bitten leader able to carry hundreds of men with him. After his defeat he chose service over death and brought his men under Lorist's banner, becoming one of his most loyal escort officers.

A former mountain-bandit captain among those who blocked the road at Fenyata. These bands had got hold of siege crossbows and dealt heavy losses to Count Cobley's troops, but gained nothing against Lorist.

At Fenyata two or three hundred of his bandits stood before the town gates but, in truth, managed neither to strike nor to trade volleys — and surrendered, becoming Lorist's personal spoils.

In ch 79 the fate of the captured bandits is decided: there is no one to take them, and Lorist keeps them himself. Yost leads two or three hundred former bandits into Lorist's escort regiment.

In time he rises to convoy lieutenant and patrols the roads of Maple Forest Estate (ch 98). He stays in service for years — his name appears among the officers well into the later arcs.
