Jeffrey

Jeffrey is a fifth-level sorcerer (Morning Star rank) whom Leylin calls "Lord Jeffrey" and who in turn calls the protagonist "Lord Leylin," indicating their relationship of alliance or vassalage within a common faction. The bond between the two is maintained through a secret seal in the form of a blood-red bat, activated on the arm: one need only trigger it to summon the other party immediately. Since the bodies of fifth-level sorcerers reside in the space of the Morning Star, travel poses no obstacle for Jeffrey—the moment the seal is activated, he already appears in Leylin's castle, ready to answer questions. The symbolism of the blood-red bat and the context of the conversations suggest that Jeffrey belongs to the circle of sorcerers of the Bloodline: it is precisely with him that the Throne of the Bloodline is discussed, which, according to the prophecy of the Blood Wave, will rise and sweep away all the other thrones of the central continent the moment a sixth-rank sorcerer appears, inevitably destined to become one of the principal forces of the continent. The news itself makes Jeffrey's body tremble with agitation, betraying his deep personal interest in the fate of the Bloodline faction. The mentions of the character are concentrated in chapters 627–671, where he acts as a confidant and a source of information for Leylin regarding the affairs of the Bloodline path and the balance of forces among the sorcerers of the Morning Star.
