Since the number of formal Wizards was very small, there were essentially counters available at any given time.
On the benches scattered around the main hall, a few Wizards were sitting, seemingly waiting for something.
Leilin glanced around and went to an empty counter.
"Hello!" The young lady behind the counter, who also possessed the energy fluctuation of a Third-rank Apprentice, greeted Leilin with a bright smile upon seeing him.
"I would like to join the Four Seasons Garden and have come here to submit my application!" Leilin stated his purpose directly.
"Nevernight welcomes your joining!" The smile on the lady's face grew even more prominent after hearing Leilin's request. "Please present your ring!"
Leilin removed the silver ring from his hand and passed it to her.
The lady took it and swept it over a device behind the counter before respectfully returning it to Leilin.
"Please fill out this form. We will give you our reply as soon as possible!" She then handed Leilin a parchment form.
Leilin took it and glanced it over.
The questions were simple: name, aptitude, Elemental Affinity, current residential address, and so on. There was also a section for notes, asking the Wizard to fill in any information they deemed important.
Leilin filled it out quickly and handed the form back to the lady.
She took it and immediately pressed a crystal ball on the counter, seemingly making an inquiry. Then, her expression turned to one of delight.
"Lord Leilin! Several examiners from the Four Seasons Garden will be coming here this afternoon to conduct a test. You just need to wait a little while..."
"Oh? It seems I've gotten lucky!"
Leilin nodded with a smile. He finally understood what the Wizards in the hall were waiting for.
According to Cleo, after a wandering Wizard submitted an application form, they had to wait for an examiner from their chosen faction to conduct the evaluation.
The timing for this was uncertain—it could be a few days, or even a few months.
And Leilin just happened to catch one.
"Thank you!"
Leilin thanked the lady behind the glass partition and found a corner of the hall to sit down and close his eyes, beginning his wait.
"Excuse me, sir, would you like lunch?"
A somewhat timid female voice sounded near Leilin.
Leilin opened his eyes to see a maid pushing a white food cart, approaching him.
On the cart were several silver platters covered by domes, with warming spells applied. Even with the covers, the aroma of food drifted towards Leilin's nose.
"What dishes are there? Do I need to pay with Magic Stones?" Leilin asked with some curiosity.
The maid seemed a bit taken aback, as this was clearly the first time she'd encountered a Wizard as easygoing as Leilin. "We have roasted lamb leg, veal kidney... and for dessert, a mixed fruit salad! All of this is completely free of charge..."
Leilin nodded. It seemed Nevernight offered quite good treatment to formal Wizards like him.
That was only natural. Regardless of where, those who possessed a certain degree of power would always be valued.
"Give me a roasted lamb leg, and a fruit salad!"
The hall was quite spacious, with private booths available. In addition to ordering food, it seemed there were some other special services offered.
Leilin personally saw a burly male Wizard lead a maid into one of the adjacent booths, after which suppressed moans could be heard.
"My... my lord, if you require it..." The maid serving Leilin was also quite beautiful, and her slightly coy demeanor gave her an air that sparked a desire to ravish.
"No need. I'll eat right here in the hall."
Leilin shook his head. There were simple round tables and benches in the hall, styled very much like cafes in his previous world, perfect for dining. He told himself he wasn't so hormone-crazed as to risk being in poor condition for this afternoon's evaluation over something like this.
Upon hearing Leilin's response, the maid let out a soft sigh of relief. Then, an indeterminate feeling—whether of relief or a touch of regret—quietly crept into her heart.
She looked at Leilin, whose movements were exceptionally elegant and who possessed a peculiar charm, and for a moment felt a complex mix of emotions she couldn't articulate.
Leilin, however, didn't notice the small thoughts of the maid beside him.
At this moment, he was deftly handling the silver knife and fork, placing pieces of lamb into his mouth. Every movement carried an indescribable nobility and grace.
In his previous life, he had been quite conscious of etiquette, and the original Leilin had also been an heir to a noble family, having received specialized etiquette training from a professional instructor hired by his father, the Baron, for a long time.
Thus, the original Leilin already possessed a certain noble bearing, and when combined with the charm of the Komoin Bloodline, he had attracted the favor of many female Wizards.
At the very least, if the current Leilin walked down the streets of Nevernight, he could notice young women stealing glances at him.
