Description

Narcissus Utopia is a Class I Explorer and one of the most storied figures in Hydrangea, publicly hailed as the "Reincarnation of Generous" (ジェネラスの再来). A striking woman of 24 with deep purple side-tail hair and vivid purple eyes, she conceals her conspicuous coloring under a deep hood in public and dresses in ceremonial, near-priestess white robes. She is a direct-line descendant (末裔) of the Generous bloodline—which she clarifies is a race, not merely a god—and is counted among the Six Houses of Edda. Because of her hair color she was branded a "reincarnation" from birth and given a miko-like Relic, but with her mother dying immediately after her birth she was never properly raised, producing an erratic, self-important personality.

She first enters the story as an antagonist: it was Narcissus who commissioned the fearsome Alverd von Rutbert to abduct Wof, having somehow learned Wof could become [Generous]—she found the existence of a second Generous unacceptable and could not bear to accept a rival to her identity. This sets off Wof's crushing defeat at Alverd's hands and his subsequent quest to grow stronger. When she and Wof finally clash directly in Hydrangea, she wields the Relic [Vanish]—the very same [Vanish] Wof uses—but with vastly greater mastery: she reshapes her square [Vanish] into rods, scythes, and blades through a [Weaponization] ability, and her Vanish overpowers Wof's on contact. The duel ends not in death but in reconciliation once she realizes he is a decent person.

After making peace she reveals a comically volatile, tsundere character: she gorges on festival street food (out-eating Wof), bullies vendors into discounts, demands Wof wipe sauce from her mouth, and haughtily lords her rank over everyone while cheerfully admitting she understands almost nothing. She apologizes to Wof for the abduction, begs him not to fight Alverd (insisting he would lose), and later accepts one of his gratitude bracelets—flushing scarlet before forcing herself to repay it with a kiss. She becomes a valuable if unreliable source of lore, explaining the shattered sword-goddess, the Generous royal line, and the nature of the reincarnation.

In later arcs Narcissus serves as an involuntary mouthpiece for dungeon will: the Haizen dungeon speaks through her to task Wof with quelling its "dungeon anomaly," handing him a new constraint Relic and revealing that Haizen itself is a four-layer surface dungeon. By this point she is largely comic relief—wandering off after being abandoned in a ritual chamber, digging escape tunnels with a Vanish pickaxe, and being mothered by Megadia, who wipes her face and scolds her for leaving cabbage on her plate. A memorable interlude has the Witch converting the cabbage-hating Narcissus into a devoted "sauce partisan."
