Megadia

Megadia is an elite explorer known across Hydrangea by the epithet "Black Devourer" (Kuronomi). When first encountered she holds the rank of Class II Explorer, the same tier as the swordsman Agaro ("Sword of Ruin"), and by the later dungeon-creation arc she has risen to Class I. Physically she is striking and hard to miss: nearly 190cm tall, she wears elegant gothic-lolita attire, has long black hime-cut hair, and cold purple eyes framed by red lips. She is a legendary drinker, famously out-lasting the notoriously strong Agaro in a drinking contest, downing her eightieth mug of ale without visibly flushing.

She is an Edda, the world's "supreme" or ruling species, and specifically a pure-blood of the Megalopolis family, one of the six great Edda houses (the "Mega-" prefix reflecting the family name). As an Edda she bears the species hallmarks: purple eyes, faith in the six-eyed god Generous, noble rank (she is a Count/伯爵), and being born with two relics. Despite her aristocratic birth she rejects her house and lives as an explorer, harboring an evident dislike of her family. Her personality mixes sly, teasing wit with a jaded, easygoing candor; she needles Wof with fake propositions to hire him or claim him as a lover, yet is fundamentally supportive of ambitious people like Pakira.

Megadia's signature relic is Black Spot, a powerful space-type relic (grouped with Vanish, Teleport and Storage) with which she conjures and hurls swarms of black orbs as offensive weapons — the source of both her fearsome combat reputation and her "Black Devourer" nickname. Her second relic lets her perceive the color of a person's soul; through it she perceives Nekia's soul as clear and radiantly pure, and reads Wof's aura as "dangerous." It was during their first meeting that her keen insight let her deduce Wof possesses an extraordinarily rare relic, prompting her half-serious offer to make him her employee — a moment that later alarms Trquetum's Pakira.

In the story Megadia's proposal that Trquetum accompany her on a dungeon-anomaly subjugation draws Wof's orbit closer to the guild's higher ranks. In the later Haizen dungeon-creation arc she and the eccentric priestess Narcissus (Naashisesu) join Wof's party to explore the deep and lowest floors, her Black Spot orbs clearing swarms of spider-women and armored foes. There she meets Nekia — the revived spider-queen soul now inhabiting Haiyaan's body — who is almost a twin of Megadia, as Haiyaan's original form closely resembled a beauty of Megadia's ancestral Megalopolis line.
