Paul is a Morning Star sorcerer of the Spirit Circle, heir to the lineage of the strange anomaly known as the "Soul Devourer." His appearance differs drastically from the norm — he has a tentacled head reminiscent of an octopus, reflecting the telepathic origin of his race. In the Morning Star region he acts as a guide, informant, and combatant, providing Leylin with valuable information about the systems, organizations, dangers, and political dynamics of the Morning Star. His presence highlights the waning yet still-lingering influence of the Spirit Circle following the catastrophe at the ruins of the Crimson Crescent Moon.
