Chapter 579: The War Debate

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 950 words

The Ouroboros Circle had previously been attacked by the coalition. If not for Leilin Farell's sudden emergence, it would likely have been utterly destroyed long ago.

But even though Leilin had demonstrated terrifying combat power and talent, and through a series of diplomatic maneuvers had forced the enemy to withdraw, the vast territories and resource points that had been occupied could not possibly be reclaimed.

At the time, Leilin was merely a newly ascended Morning Star — how could he demand territory equal to that of the three previous Morning Star Warlocks?

Even if he had recaptured them, he alone couldn't hold them down.

One should demand treatment commensurate with one's actual strength, and Leilin was very clear-headed about this.

Now, however, with the return of the two dukes — and especially with the improvement of his own combat strength — Leilin felt he had sufficient grounds to make these demands.

As for whether this would offend the Thunder of Jupiter? Had Leilin not already done more than enough to offend them? He had already made enemies of them completely; it hardly mattered anymore.

"Indeed! The Black River Basin was originally the Ouroboros Circle's territory — its occupation by others is an insult to us Bloodline Warlocks!"

Philip was the first to stand up, looking righteous and indignant. "I will definitely petition the Alliance for this!"

Seeing him like this, Paul and another warlock secretly rolled their eyes, but they did not voice any opposition — in fact, they were quite supportive.

After all, those territories originally belonged to the Ouroboros Circle. They were merely taking them back.

Moreover, they would offer verbal support at most and wouldn't actually take action, unless the Ouroboros Circle made further concessions of benefits.

However, Leilin had only asked them to serve as witnesses and the like — he did not expect them to take action.

Putting aside his own current strength, even if Gilbert and Emma joined forces, that would be more than sufficient to accomplish these things.

When they heard that Leilin intended to reclaim their former territories, although the other Crystalline Warlocks present could not speak, their faces were filled with excitement.

The coalition was still occupying their fiefs and populations — this was an absolute humiliation!

The time they had been attacked at their headquarters, nearly uprooted entirely, was firmly etched into these warlocks' hearts, planting seeds of hatred. Now, hearing that Leilin would lead them to take revenge, their faces all showed expressions of irrepressible excitement.

Leilin watched this scene and nodded inwardly.

His reason for doing this was to expand the pie and divert conflicts. After all, with three Morning Star Warlocks here now, keeping the original scraps of resources would not be nearly enough to share — especially with all the miscellaneous subordinates below.

Moreover, by leading them to achieve revenge, Leilin's prestige would likely rise to an unprecedented level, making it easier for him to control the entire organization.

This was an open stratagem. Even if Gilbert and Emma saw through it, they couldn't say much.

After the time was agreed upon, Philip and the others took their leave. Even Frey and the other senior warlocks voluntarily withdrew, leaving the space to the three of Leilin, Gilbert, and Emma.

"Are we going to war with the Thunder of Jupiter now? Didn't you say before that we should maintain the status quo?" Emma asked with some concern.

"When I said maintain the status quo, I was referring to the pre-war state!" Leilin let out a cold laugh, and a domineering aura suddenly radiated from his body. "Besides, the Thunder of Jupiter is probably too busy to look after itself right now..."

"Oh? How so?" Gilbert asked with interest. He never tired of any method that could weaken the Thunder of Jupiter — in Leilin's view, this showed that hatred ran deep.

"When I went to the Lava World previously, I had asked the Fifth-level Warlock, Lord 'Golden Lion' Wade, to help me hold off Jesia. Later, although he let one of the opponent's fifth-level clones slip through, the opponent's true body still did not descend. So I decided to honor our previous agreement!"

"What agreement?" Gilbert and Emma exchanged a glance. Ever since meeting Leilin, they had never seen this young man come out on the losing end. For him to act this way now, there must be some deeper meaning behind it.

"He helped me hold off Jesia, and in return, I will give him the coordinates of the Lava World!" Leilin smiled slightly. "Just moments ago, Wade already received my message..."

"What?" Gilbert and Emma shot to their feet. "That's an entire world! Do you have any idea what you've done?"

A vast otherworld represented unprecedented benefits. The mere borrowing of its power systems and paths could benefit wizards enormously, even allowing for rapid advancement.

Not to mention — just look at how those Dawn Sun Throne holders only advanced after conquering a great world. Even Leilin himself had clearly benefited enormously from one.

Therefore, for world coordinates like these, every organization guarded them as the highest secrets. Last time, if Jesia hadn't been so confident — especially having been incited by someone — he wouldn't have used these coordinates to frame the three Comorin Dukes.

The appeal of an unexplored world was extraordinary. The three Comorin Dukes had harbored their suspicions beforehand, but they still all fell for it. The reason was none other than the benefits being too great — great enough to blind their reason!

Of course, the final outcome was that Jesia ended up with nothing — not only gaining nothing, but also suffering heavy losses, nearly losing even his pants.
