Chen Ge

Chen Ge is the story's protagonist and the owner of the Haunted House he inherited after his parents mysteriously disappeared. With the attraction on the verge of closing for lack of customers, Chen Ge discovered a mysterious Black Phone in the attic, left behind by his parents. The phone granted him a game-like system of daily missions and rewards that let him upgrade the Haunted House and gradually build up an army of specters.

A toy-design student who grew up surrounded by props in a house of horrors, he has an unusually high threshold for fear and can keep a warm smile even in the harshest situations. He saves those he deems worth saving but is willing to abandon those he judges unfit for society. Though he thinks of himself as a 'kind' person, his methods of extracting information often rely on intimidation and coercion, and many characters compare him to a madman.

Since birth Chen Ge has been able to see ghosts and slip into the Red World. Beyond running the Haunted House, he works as a livestream host, serves as an unofficial police informant, and later becomes president of the Ghost Stories Society.
