Description

Nabel is a sixteen-year-old wolf-beastman (jinjinshu) with black hair, black eyes, and expressive wolf ears and tail. He is the leader of the fourth-rank explorer party “Cerberos Turn,” whose other members are the spearman Coran and the elf mage Plancy. Although Coran is the one who actually founded the party and installed Nabel as its head, it is the young wolf-man’s steady, principled nature that keeps the group together. Nabel first appears when Wof’s expedition rescues his stranded party deep in a dungeon; they had triggered a hidden transport array and been flung from the 25th floor down to the 42nd. Wof gifts them a rare forced-teleport stone to get home, asking in return only that they help dampen the outlandish rumors circulating about him.

Rare among youths of his generation, Nabel is cautious, serious, and diligent — the very qualities that make him a natural leader. He idolizes First-Rank explorers as heroes, refers to himself with the boyish “boku,” and constantly scrambles to live up to Wof’s outrageous expectations. Honest, kind, and self-sacrificing to a fault, he tends to lose out because of it, though the narration suggests his decency will someday be rewarded. He carries himself with a quiet nobility that others notice, and is strongly implied to come from an aristocratic house; his emotions read plainly through his twitching ears and wagging tail, earning him the affectionate epithet of a “dog-type” boy.

Nabel fights with a round iron shield and his clan’s treasured Oreparts blade, the “Ulfen Sword,” which grants the Relic UlfenRush — a furious four-strike sword combo. His personal Relics also include BlockShield (raising a barrier from his shield to block most attacks) and HiddenDetection (revealing hidden rooms and switches). Through Wof he later recovers a second family heirloom, the long-lost “Ulfeg Katana,” unearthed in a shady merchant’s junk-heap gacha, which teaches him the Iai quick-draw Relic. He trains hard to master these blades over the course of his arc.

Nabel’s defining moment comes during the Forest Wave defense event, where he joins a temporary team led by the veteran greatswordsman Garad, alongside the halberdier Hoss and the marksman Bidd. Wielding a spider-slaying blade called the “Spider-Slayer,” he lands the killing blow on a monstrous giant spider — nearly dying to its final thrashing attack before being saved by Wof’s tentacles. He loses the Spider-Slayer as the price of victory but emerges visibly changed and grown, having proven himself in the crucible of the event.
