The Countess, whose real name is Nisha, is the 3rd-ranked hunter and the guild leader of the Merchant's Union (also called the Give and Take guild). She is the wealthiest person in the Tower and controls most of its economy—and, uniquely, holds the title "Count," making her the only hunter able to send and receive things from the outside world.
Though she appears to be in her twenties, she is actually over forty. She has tan skin, shoulder-length curly brown hair, and a necklace bearing two coins. Her skill "Metamorphosis" lets her transform into a milk-chocolate-furred cat—still wearing her coin necklace—and her skill "Exchange" lets her trade goods with the outside world. She grew up in what is described as the poorest village in the world, in India.
As one of the Tower's great guild leaders, she took part in the historic non-aggression pact that ended the Tower's early bloodshed—agreeing to it only on the condition that she would hold a monopoly over the Tower's economy.
