The Gods and Subordinate Gods are the pantheon of deities worshipped throughout Yurgenschmidt, invoked in blessings and magic circles and believed to bestow divine grace during the temple's ceremonies. They range from the two Supreme Gods and the Eternal Five (the Primary Gods), who preside over the elements and seasons, down to countless subordinate gods governing crafts, ideas, and phenomena.
At the top stand the God of Darkness and the Goddess of Light, a married couple who rule the heavens together and are the progenitors of all other gods. Unlike the rest, they are referred to by title alone; their true names are a closely guarded secret that only archduke candidates may learn, in a solitary ritual. Together, darkness and light are considered especially potent and power such things as the transfer circles to the Royal Academy and the magic tools Schwartz and Weiss.
This mythology structures daily life in Yurgenschmidt, with religious ceremonies held throughout the year. Myne, with her vast mana, comes to wield these blessings herself, giving divine grace during temple rituals.
