The Northern War and the Siege of Rockcastle
Description
Grand Duke Lukins of the North, affronted by the Nortons' rise, rallies sixty-odd lords to march against the house. Lorist answers boldly: as the lords' army advances on him, he himself lays waste the grand duke's undefended lands, carrying off peasants and artisans and applying a scorched-earth order.
On 9 May 1768, equal armies (over forty thousand each) meet at Rockcastle in the Morgan Hills. Norton steel-crossbows and heavy infantry rout the lords' host before close combat. Grand Duke Lukins is finally broken, and the Kemmes family casts off his authority.
