Zenos von Frenbreed
Description
Zenos is the head of the Frenbreed Marquis House and Ermes's father. Head of a lineage that had slipped from ducal rank, he saw in his magically gifted second son the savior who would restore the family's glory, and doted on him extravagantly.
That affection was entirely conditional. When the royal appraiser found that Ermes had inherited no Bloodline Magic — 'Incompatibility' — Zenos's ambition collapsed into despair and then rage, and he came to loathe the boy he had once adored.
He ultimately disowns Ermes, forbidding him the Frenbreed name, and even arranges for him to be quietly disposed of after his banishment. Years later he grovels before Prince Aster as rumors of Ermes's genius spread.
