Description
The Black Heart is the literal heart of Ashborn, the original Shadow Monarch, and serves as the core of his immense power and authority over the dead. It is an ancient relic that contains the essence of the Shadow Monarch's abilities.
During the Double Dungeon arc, the System, which had been guiding Sung Jin-Woo, finalizes its purpose by preparing his body to receive the Black Heart. After defeating the Architect and facing Ashborn's final trial, Jin-Woo's own heart stops, and the Black Heart takes its place, symbolizing his complete inheritance of the Shadow Monarch's legacy.
With the Black Heart merged into his body, Sung Jin-Woo gains the full extent of the Shadow Monarch's abilities, including the power to resurrect the dead as shadow soldiers, enhanced physical regeneration, and an immense boost in mana. The artifact replaces his former human limitations and grants him a form of immortality, as well as the authority to command all shadows.
The Black Heart also serves as the central link between Jin-Woo and the Shadow Monarch's realm. It allows him to manifest the full potential of his shadow army, including the ability to extract shadows from powerful foes without restrictions, and it amplifies his combat capabilities to godlike levels.
As the true Shadow Monarch, Jin-Woo uses the power of the Black Heart to challenge the other Monarchs and eventually reshape the world. The artifact remains a fundamental part of his identity, representing the burden and the strength he inherited from Ashborn.
