Ant King

The Ant King was the hidden boss of the S-Rank Gate on Jeju Island, a colossal insect-type magical beast born from the Ant Queen's hive within the dungeon. His emergence marked one of the gravest threats humanity had faced since the appearance of Gates.

He possessed an extraordinary array of abilities including high-speed flight, the power to manipulate his own size, paralysis-inducing poison, healing magic, and devastating ice-based attacks. Unusually for a magical beast, he demonstrated full speech capability and high intelligence, making him a far more dangerous opponent than any typical dungeon monster.

During the 4th Jeju Island Raid, the Ant King single-handedly slaughtered over eight of the sixteen S-Rank Hunters participating in the operation. Among his victims was Goto Ryuji, widely regarded as the greatest hunter in Japan. His blinding speed and overwhelming power crushed even the most elite hunters with terrifying ease, plunging the raid into catastrophe.

The massacre was halted only by the arrival of Sung Jin-Woo, who alone proved capable of matching the Ant King's ferocity. Their battle pushed both combatants to their absolute limits in a brutal clash between the King of Ants and the emerging Monarch of Shadows, shaking the island with their devastating exchange of blows.

After a protracted and vicious fight, Sung Jin-Woo dealt the killing blow and invoked his necromantic powers to extract the Ant King's shadow, resurrecting the fallen beast as the shadow soldier Beru. What had been humanity's deadliest enemy was thus transformed into a fiercely loyal and devoted servant.

As Beru, he became one of Sung Jin-Woo's most powerful and trusted shadow soldiers, retaining his formidable combat instincts while gaining an unwavering devotion to his new master. He would go on to play a crucial role in many of the battles that followed, proving himself indispensable to the Shadow Army.
