Description

Miranda Circy is the eldest daughter of House Circy, a noble clan of Central's administrative aristocracy that was tied to House Walt through marriage two generations earlier (her aunt Mireia wed into House Circy). Once a well-connected lady of the Royal Capital, Miranda was pushed out of Central and sent to study in the academic city of Aramsas, ostensibly for her education but really because her family wished to keep her at arm's length. There she is treated as a mere recipient of family support, effectively exiled while her younger sisters were married off. She first appears (ch. 35) recognizing Aria in the Aramsas guild, and soon takes Lyle's party in as guests at the Circy manor she keeps almost rent-free.

On the surface Miranda is bright, lively, teasing and unfailingly kind. Aria warns that she is 'too kind and loses out because of it' - her goodness even made her a target of gossip. Beneath that friendliness, however, she is far more capable and dangerous than she lets on. She lives at the manor to care for her blind younger sister Shannon, quietly enduring Shannon's manipulations while pretending not to notice, precisely because she is Shannon's older sister and feels responsible for her. During the dungeon arc Lyle discovers her hidden edge: possessed by a violent 'other Miranda' Shannon had shaped, she reveals herself to be a lethal fighter, wielding a short sword and twin daggers with skill no one could learn in a day or two. Lyle seals and calms this second self, forcing Miranda to admit the resentment she had bottled up.

In combat Miranda is one of the party's most versatile members. She fights up close with a short sword and paired daggers - striking eyes and joints with brutal precision - while also casting ranged fire magic and, by the finale, crafting and directing golems and raining energy beams from the air in the great battle for Central (ch. 340). She becomes a permanent, core member of Lyle's group alongside Novem, Aria, Shannon, Clara and the others.

Emotionally, Miranda is drawn deeply to Lyle and joins his growing circle of women, developing a sharp, jealous rivalry with Novem over him. Novem in turn respects Miranda greatly - she never fell under Celes's charm and is genuinely strong - yet works to keep her 'under control.' By the epilogue Miranda stands among Lyle's wives, still bickering with Novem, disciplining the mischievous Shannon, and setting inescapable 'traps' for the man she loves. Her arc runs from a smiling, self-sacrificing noblewoman to a self-possessed woman who embraces her true, formidable self at Lyle's side.
