Description
Celes Walt (Селеста «Сэлес» Уолт) is the younger sister of the protagonist Lyle and the driving antagonist of Sevens. In the prologue she is a beautiful thirteen-year-old with golden wavy hair and cold blue eyes, wielding a rapier set with a yellow Gemstone. Though she was only ever taught the basics of swordsmanship, she effortlessly humiliates the fifteen-year-old Lyle in a duel she herself demands to decide the next head of House Walt, mocking him, mutilating his cherished saber, and nearly killing him with high-tier fire magic. From the moment she turned ten her aura changed and the entire household - parents and servants alike - became captivated by her, discarding Lyle; she has him exiled, coldly telling him he simply annoys her and should disappear.
She is repeatedly described as a 'monster' (чудовище) - a perfect being who warps everyone and everything around her. Her true unique Skill, revealed later, is the power to take away: she stole Lyle's magical power, his talent and experience, and his parents' love, and she sealed away his very memories with the Gemstone. The devotion of those around her, however, comes not from that Skill but from a separate charm; she is tied to 'Septem' and the memories of Agrissa carried in the Gemstone lineage, inheriting ancestral hatred of humanity that shaped her cruelty. Born as a dark counterweight to the kind, beloved Lyle, she grew to despise him all the more because he stayed gentle toward her even after noticing her hatred.
After Lyle's exile, Celes moves to the royal capital and Central (Централь), where she seizes power over the Bansaim kingdom and turns it into a mad tyranny. She keeps a harem of enchanted handsome men (including the crown prince), reduces the mind-controlled parents to dolls at her side, enslaves and tortures those who resist - keeping defiant people on leashes like dogs and even reanimating a slain Kirin as a puppet. Indifferent to how many of her followers die, she cares only about her own victory and comfort. In combat she is monstrous: superhuman speed, overwhelming magic she can switch between prepared Skills, and rapier skill that outmatches nearly everyone.
Her arc drives the entire narrative: Lyle's whole journey is the quest to grow strong enough to stop her, and he ultimately accepts that he cannot defeat her alone. In the climactic assault on Central and the throne room, Lyle and his companions confront Celes, who has swallowed the Gemstone whole and unleashes flame magic Agrissa gave her; she is killed in the final battle, ending her reign of terror over the continent.
