Ma Hong Yun, originally named Fei Cai, is a Gu Master of the Northern Plains known as the 'Child of Luck.' As host of the rank 8 Fortune Rivalling Heaven Gu and inheritor of Giant Sun Immortal Venerable's Luck Path legacy, his body is carved with luck dao marks that siphon the fortune of every living being around him, granting him heaven-defying luck and endless fortuitous encounters.
Simple-minded, dim-witted and hopelessly bad with directions, he is nonetheless fiercely loyal and devoted to those he calls friends — above all Zhao Lian Yun, who abused him yet whom he loved. Orphaned young and enslaved by the Ma Tribe, he won his freedom and a surname through sheer, accidental luck.
His extraordinary fortune makes him a coveted target: he is captured, auctioned, and repeatedly pursued by immortals who wish to refine the Fortune Gu out of him. His fate ultimately becomes entangled with Fang Yuan's own schemes across the Northern Plains.
