Description
Colin Fou Bartfort is the youngest Bartfort sibling, born well after Leon and raised in a household that suddenly had money, a warship in the back, and a queen who occasionally wrote them letters. He grows up with a much more cheerful, opportunistic view of nobility than Leon does — and an extremely accurate sense of which of his siblings is the dangerous one.
He treats Leon as a hero and a source of useful favours in equal measure. As he ages into the academy years he becomes one of the few young Bartforts that Leon trusts to handle minor estate diplomacy on his own.
Colin is a quiet reminder, mostly in domestic chapters, that the family Leon set out to abandon is also the one his unwanted promotions are protecting.
