Brad Fou Field

Brad Fou Field is heir to House Field, one of the kingdom's most prestigious magical lineages. Pale-haired, elegant, with the chilly self-assurance of someone who has been told since childhood that his magic is exceptional, he is the otome game's 'genius mage' route — the one a heroine picks if she likes books and spells.

He treats his lineage as proof of personal superiority and Marie Fou Lafan as a uniquely perceptive young woman who has at last seen him for what he is. He is, in fact, perceptive enough to be a real threat — which is exactly why losing to Leon Fou Bartfort and Luxion's superior magic technology destroys his self-image so thoroughly.

After the duel he loses access to most of House Field's resources, is shuffled into provincial obscurity, and ends the series teaching low-level magic in conditions he would once have considered beneath a Field. Marie keeps him on as the household's reluctant tutor.
