Atoferatofe Raybak

Atofe is chaotic, hot-tempered, and obsessed with strength: above all she prizes strong fighters and adores duels, feasts, and singing. Reasoning with her is nearly impossible — she does not understand the human tongue and flies into a rage at the slightest provocation. Her pride and love of strength are so great that she deliberately lets an opponent land a single blow to test them.

For all her recklessness, she has a certain Immortal Demon's nobility: having lost by her own rules, she acknowledges defeat and keeps her word. After regenerating she often slips into a calm, almost sage-like state and speaks surprisingly sensibly.

Atofe's appearance is the very image of a demon: blue skin, white hair, red eyes, bat-like membranous wings, and a thick horn in her brow. She stands roughly as tall as a grown woman, but radiates an oppressive aura of violence and battle-lust. She wears battered black armor and wields a giant sword.

Her muscles are more defined than Eris's and her bust rivals hers — and, being immortal, she trains her body even harder than usual: her cells do not die, so exercise is all the more meaningful for her.

Atofe's chief strength is immortality: cut to pieces, she draws her flesh back together and rises again; even a severed arm regrows instantly. In endurance she rivals the Immortal Demon King Badigadi, yet she is the more skilled warrior: she is the wife and inheritor of the style of Karlman Raybak, founder of the North God Style, and wields his secret arts.

In five thousand years only the North God Karlman and the Demon God Laplace ever bested her single-handed. There are two ways to beat her: dismantle her and seal her with barrier magic so she cannot regenerate, or force her to concede defeat by her own rules.

She is vulnerable to Rudeus's lightning magic, which ignores battle aura and physically paralyzes the muscles; with it he twice knocks her off her feet.

Rudeus first encounters Atofe in her castle on the Demon Continent, where he has brought the captured Kishirika. At the audience she tries to force him into her honor-guard by slave contract; the misunderstanding erupts into a brawl in which Zanoba pummels her and Rudeus zaps her with lightning. To escape, the party flees the city.

Later, for the war against the Man-God, Rudeus returns and challenges her. Eris (as the «Hero») distracts her while Rudeus summons the Magic Armor — a recreated «Battle God Armor» originally made by Laplace himself. Recognizing the armor, Atofe concedes defeat and, by agreement, becomes Rudeus's subordinate for as long as he lives.

From then on Atofe is an ally of Orsted's faction: she helps hunt the Man-God's envoy Geese and Kishirika, and supports them in battle. In the final fight against the Battle God Badigadi she and her guard fight on Rudeus's side.

Atofe's right hand is the elderly warrior Muor, effectively her «brain»: he gently manipulates her and handles affairs she cannot. It is with him that Rudeus negotiates plans.

Atofe loves strength as much as Kishirika does: she names the winner of a duel a Hero — a title Rudeus too receives.
