Description
Yuri Cattleya is the only daughter and youngest child of House Cattleya, a martial marquis house whose head holds the rank of Knight Commander and is hailed at court, alongside Marquis Rosemary, as one of the King's Twin Wings. With four older brothers, Yuri spent her childhood shut away in the family estate under suffocating protection: she was forbidden to learn the sword and never allowed out without a heavy guard.
When her father flatly refused to let her enrol at Aiwood Royal Academy, Yuri rebelled for the first time in her life, quarrelled bitterly with her family, and fled the estate. She is formally disowned and no longer counted as the marquis's daughter, though out of pity her father let her keep her late mother's surname. Armed with a recommendation from her mother's relatives, she sat the commoner-track exam for the Magic Department, where her knight father's influence ran thinnest.
The source of her extraordinary physical power is the so-called demon disease (oni disease): with almost no magic to speak of, her muscles and bones are developed far beyond a normal person's. She can shatter rock barehanded and tumble off a cliff unharmed. She knows Rest from the day he caught her with magic as she fell from the clock tower; the two later sat the entrance exam together and ended up in the same class. Cheerful and irrepressible, Yuri prizes her newfound freedom above all and twice fights her way free of relatives trying to drag her home, defeating first her brother Toya and later her own father.
