Description
The Tasan Marquis House (タサン侯爵家) is the only marquisate in the kingdom and the lord-family of the Tasan domain. As the head of the 'Tasan faction' (タサン派), it ranks third among the realm's noble powers, making it one of the most influential aristocratic houses in the setting. Its name alone carries weight: commoners and guards react with shock when a member introduces themselves as 'a Tasan,' and even Wof, the protagonist, recognizes the marquis as a great noble of the country.
The house is distinctly matrilineal (女系): its lord keeps six official wives and has sired an enormous brood, of whom Rel (レル) is the only son among sixteen-plus sisters. Because of this female line, nearly all of the household's servants are women, and the family runs a formal support program for talented female explorers — the very program through which Juicy and, later, Lupinus's party come into contact with the house. Notable members glimpsed in the story include Rel (the eldest son, an archer and Fourth-Class explorer); Dova (2nd sister, the cold, monocled acting deputy lord); Shesh (6th sister, a foul-mouthed mercenary who serves as bodyguard); Zecatria (13th, an undead-obsessed sister); Ennea, styled the 'Sleeping Bomb King'; and Juicy (14th daughter), a wolf-race girl of Wof's own age.
The house guards extraordinary secrets. Its women each carry an ancestral engagement ring, treated as a matter of family pride and worth a staggering fortune, and the family holds top-secret pseudo-god Relics (疑似化神レリック) — such as the Fenrir Relic wielded by Juicy — described in the text as among the Tasan house's highest classified assets. Skill with the bow is a shared family trait.
The house drives the 'The Ring of Tasan' arc: after Wof recovers a Tasan engagement ring lost for decades and passes it to the guard Gauro, the family tracks it down, richly rewards the finder, and grants Wof a 'Tasan Emblem Card' — a legacy artifact that lets him invoke the house's power a single time by uttering the chant 'By the blessing of Tasan' (タサンの祝りよ). Lacking its own estate in Hydrangea, the house operates there out of the borrowed mansion of Count Boree, the leading figure of the Tasan faction.
