Description
Daisy is the younger sister of the hero Luke and, by the rules of the game «Dungeon Defense», a hero candidate in her own right — the destined slayer of Demon Lords who would have awakened had the player chosen a female protagonist. Dantalion, who had played the game as the male Luke, is blindsided to find both siblings alive: his own removal of Andromalius erased the village-raid event that should have killed one of them, leaving two heroes loose in the world. From the moment he meets the black-eyed girl, he treats her not as prey but as a genuine equal — and instantly recognises a soul cut from the same cloth as his own.
**The wager over the village (ch 173-174).** When Dantalion comes to destroy her slash-and-burn village to forestall the hero's birth, the ten-year-old Daisy argues for the lives of everyone present with chilling composure, exposing each of his "mercies" and reading his hidden hesitation. She does not beg for her brother; she offers to kill Luke with her own hand so as to forever brand herself a wretch who chose his death — because she loves herself too much to ever lie to herself about it. Shaken, Dantalion strikes a bargain: he will try to win Luke's genuine, soul-binding loyalty; if he succeeds, the whole village lives. As a minimal safeguard he burns a slave brand into Daisy's heart, making her his slave and forbidding her to ever reveal his true purpose to Luke.
**Daughter, swordswoman, executioner (ch 200-360).** Raised at Dantalion's castle, trained by the elf-assassin Jeremy, Daisy becomes his adopted daughter, bodyguard and blade. She is entrusted with the **Sword of Bael**, the destruction-blade that beheads a Demon Lord in a single stroke. With it she lops off the hand of the 1st-rank Bael as Dantalion's death-knights pin him (ch 271), and at Le Havre she is sent to take the head of the wounded "butcher" Agares (ch 300). Outwardly the obedient «Да, абер님» daughter, she is in truth one of the deadliest swords on the continent.
**The grand performance (ch 460-470).** Daisy is the one variable neither Dantalion nor consul Elisabeth foresaw. For years she has been quietly *acting* — performing the part of "the one who hates him." Casting herself as Дейзи фон Кустос, the avenger whose village he slaughtered and who suffered nightly torture for five years, she manipulates Laura's affection, helps engineer Paimon's death, defects to the Habsburg Republic and hands over the regent Barbatos — all an elaborate script written to one end: to seize the sin onto herself and free Dantalion's drowning soul. At the final battle she walks alone into the front line to "strike down her father," announcing «Меня зовут Дейзи фон Кустос» as she carves through the Helvetican mercenaries.
**The release.** Dantalion, who never fails to read a heart, sees through every layer of her act. Where she expects rage at her provocations, he instead calls her name in a tone she has never heard — the voice of a father comforting a beloved daughter — and tells her: «Тебе больше не нужно играть. Дейзи.» In the end he stages his own death *together with her*: "Dantalion died together with Daisy." That shared, fictitious death is, as he puts it, the finest gift he could ever give to the one person who truly understood him.
Personality
Beneath the manners of a born courtier, Daisy is a self-aware fatalist forged from the same metal as Dantalion: someone who loves herself too fiercely to ever soften the truth of her own choices. As a child she insists on bearing personal guilt rather than hiding behind "there was no other way," choosing to brand her own soul forever rather than lie to it. Acutely sensitive to others' feelings, she reads hearts almost as well as her father — which is what lets her sustain, for years and without a crack, the most demanding performance of her life: playing the one who hates him, all to set his drowning soul free.
Powers & the Sword of Bael
As a hero candidate Daisy possesses the superhuman potential to slay Demon Lords single-handed, and she fights at swordmaster level — clearing a path through a squad of Helvetican pikemen and shearing their lances in a few breaths. Her defining weapon is the **Sword of Bael**, the destruction-blade that decapitates a Demon Lord in one stroke and resizes itself to its bearer; it recognises Daisy as its mistress. Though she never fully awakens as a hero, the sword makes her one of the most lethal warriors on the continent.
Role in the story
Daisy is the moral mirror and secret saviour of the protagonist. Where everyone else is a piece on Dantalion's board, she alone writes her own counter-script: a years-long con in which she casts herself as his hateful avenger — manipulating allies, abetting Paimon's death, defecting and surrendering Barbatos — for the sole purpose of taking his sins onto herself. She becomes the one variable his calculations cannot contain, and the emotional fulcrum of the ending: by "dying together," the two of them give each other the only escape either could accept.
