Miria

Miria is the heiress of the ducal House of Elfein, where succession passes through the female line and husbands are taken into the house. She is recognized as a 'Saint' and was a candidate for pope of the Zairant theocracy. She has chestnut hair tied in a high ponytail adorned with a red rose, blue eyes, and a full bust.

In public she is sunny and familiar, but at heart she is a subtle, calculating politician, and within her private circle she becomes a mischievous 'little devil'. As a child Miria suffered from a cough caused by 'unclean air', and it was Varis's sanitation reforms that saved her life. She spent seven years in the Zairant theocracy but ultimately renounced her vows out of love for Varis. She is Reina's childhood friend.

Miria wields the highest holy magic: healing everything 'save death', anesthesia and paralysis, instantaneous bodily restoration, and the enhancement of allies to heroic levels. Her power is fueled by her own mana and worked through prayer to the creator god.

In the finale Miria performed the supreme rite (the descent of the creator god), replacing the required human sacrifice with power drawn from the World Tree and the spirit Amon. In this way she 'deceived the god' and, without a single sacrifice, paralyzed the Holy War the theocracy was preparing, for which she was acclaimed the 'greatest Saint'.
