Description
Literature magic (bunken maho) is one of the world's four magic systems, structured as a scholarly, reproducible science. Its power depends on the volume of what one has read rather than on innate talent, and it allows the creation of magic stones and books. It is the system Varis chose.
It is literature magic, rather than some 'cheat' bonus, that underlies the reincarnated prince's abilities. Its key spells are page-ring reading (auto-reading), the solitary chronicler (record-keeping), and later the combat spells: the distortion field (slowing time), the leap (gravity dash), and the spacetime ring-prison (with which Morrigan was killed).
Long ago the legendary hero Warlock fused literature magic with the sword and with mastery of gravity and time; Varis restored his lost combat techniques to defeat Morrigan.
