Filo is a filolial — a giant bird-like monster — that Naofumi buys as an egg early in his journey and raises alongside Raphtalia. Thanks to her bond with the Shield Hero she grows into a rare Filolial Queen, gaining the ability to shift between her enormous bird form and that of a small, winged, blonde girl.
In her monster form she pulls Naofumi's cart at tremendous speed; in human form she goes barefoot and wears a white dress with a blue bow. Voracious, playful, and often airheaded, she behaves like a spoiled child at first, but matures into a dependable and powerful ally.
Filo is deeply attached to Naofumi and becomes especially close to Melty, the second princess of Melromarc. As the successor to the Filolial Queen Fitoria, ordinary filolials instinctively obey her.
