Five Idiots

The Five Idiots — Leon's persistent narration-only nickname for the original otome game's five capture targets — are Crown Prince Julius Rapha Holfart, Jilk Fia Marmoria, Brad Fou Field, Greg Fou Seberg and Chris Fia Arclight. Together they form the Crown Prince's clique at the academy and the romantic harem the game expects the heroine to pick from.

All five are seduced by Marie Fou Lafan over the course of the academy arc, abandon their fiancées at the ball, and end up issuing the duel challenge that Leon turns into the kingdom's most public political demolition. After their defeat they lose their titles, their privileges and most of their income, and end up cohabiting with Marie in a household whose finances are kept afloat almost entirely by her grudging Old Humanity tech.

Leon refuses to take them seriously ever again. The narration uses 'Five Idiots' as the shorthand for the entire clique, and the series milks them throughout its later arcs as recurring slapstick — a clique of disgraced ex-princes trying to keep a household afloat in tasks they were not raised to do.
