Armor

Armors are humanoid mecha, several metres tall, piloted from an internal cockpit and powered by a magical core. They are the defining piece of military and noble hardware in this world: every noble household maintains personal Armors as an extension of its status, and warfare on the sky-continents is essentially Armor warfare.

Production-grade Armors are heavy, slow and expensive. Custom builds for high nobility are faster and better-armed but still bound by what New Humanity magic-engineering can deliver. Old Humanity Armors — what Luxion supplies Leon with — operate on principles modern engineers have never even seen.

The series treats Armors as both serious military hardware and a dueling tradition. Public 'honour duels' are fought in Armors, and the Crown Prince's clique formally challenging Leon to a five-on-one Armor duel is what gives him the public stage on which to break them.
