Akura Mercy is a daughter of the powerful Akura clan and of the Monarch Akura Malice herself, yet she is one of the warmest, most selfless characters in the series. Roughly the same age as Lindon and Yerin, she becomes one of their closest friends.
Slim, with dark hair and startling violet eyes, Mercy bears a goldsign that looks as if her hands were dipped in tar to the forearm. She walks the shadow-based Path of Seven Pages, drawing on the Book of Eternal Night, and fights with a living, Lord-level bow named Suu, weaving shadows and strings in battle; she carries the Joy Icon.
Cheerful, generous and endlessly encouraging, Mercy embodies the very concept of friendship — quick to celebrate others' successes and ready to sacrifice for those in need, despite her wealth and power. Yet throughout the series she wrestles with inner conflict over her ruthless mother and the demands of her clan, torn between duty and her own gentle heart.
