Merlin

Merlin is Leylin's senior fellow disciple under the tutelage of Master Guofatae and one of his disciples alongside Biji. Tall in stature and silent, reserved in character, he barely interacts with anyone - neither Biji nor Leylin - and devotes all his time to experiments in the laboratory. It is precisely that detachment and absolute dedication to his work that are, in Leylin's own opinion, the secret to his outstanding achievements. At the academy, Merlin is called a Potion Crafting genius born once a century, and he is considered the most likely successor to his master Guofatae. His talent in preparing potions serves Leylin as an important point of reference: even Merlin, for all his gift, needed a full month of real experiments to achieve his first success in brewing potions - and it is precisely for this reason that Leylin carefully conceals his own astonishingly rapid progress, fearing that it would be impossible to explain credibly. In the early arcs of Leylin's training at the academy, Merlin appears as the model of the gifted but reserved senior disciple - a figure who is admired and against whom the younger ones are inevitably compared.
