Gods
Description
In the world of "Warlock of the Magus World," the Gods represent the supreme tier of existence on the material plane: they are magi and creatures who have traveled the path from Full Moon and Morning Star to true immortality, anchoring their being in the World of the Gods and binding their own essence to its laws. Unlike the Morning Stars, whose power is limited by the body and the elemental domains, a true God relies on mastery over the very reality of his realm and is practically invulnerable within his own dominions. The hierarchy is divided according to the number of divine spheres mastered and the depth of comprehension of the laws: lesser, middle, and greater deities, and at the summit stand the Supreme Gods, equivalent in influence to entities such as the Mother of Ten Thousand Serpents. The distinctive trait of the Gods' path is the reliance on the number of followers: they spread cults and accumulate the devotion of an immense mass of mortals, turning prayers and sacrifices into fuel for their own power. In this they differ from similar paths — such as the path of sacrifice, which emphasizes a chosen few and more closely resembles a closed clan. The more widespread the faith in a God and the more numerous his temples, the more solid his position in the World of the Gods; the loss of his flock and being forgotten, by contrast, can weaken even a powerful deity and render it vulnerable to rivals and hunters of divine positions.
