George Boruning
Description
George Boruning is a young man of noble birth, the legitimate and much-beloved son of a count of the Kingdom of Sally. In the early chapters, he strikes up a friendship with Leylin during the journey they both undertake to the Magus Academy: the two have been recognized as possessing magical aptitudes and are heading off to begin their training. George's father invested great efforts to secure his admission to the academy, which underscores both the elevated rank of the family and the young man's personal talent. Scanning him with his Chip, Leylin obtains his data: name, George Boruning; strength, 1.9; agility, 1.8; constitution, 1.9; status, healthy. These figures exceed what is attainable through ordinary training; according to George himself, he has trained since earliest childhood to reach his current physical condition. Before entering the Magus Academy, he studied at the Academy of the God of War, the finest knights' academy in the Kingdom of Sally, which admits only the sons of aristocrats and true geniuses after an extremely rigorous selection. Despite his brilliant achievements in swordsmanship and the knightly arts, George considers them mere hobbies: the true purpose of his life, he asserts, is the path of the Magus, and he places magic above any martial feat. Open and affable in manner, he relates to Leylin cordially, becoming one of the protagonist's first notable companions on the road to the academy.
