Dark Maiden
Description
The Dark Maiden is a mysterious figure whose presence is invariably accompanied by darkness, terror, and violent death. In the context of her appearances there are mentions of black serpents several meters long with triangular heads and a single vertical eye, which spring suddenly from the grass and strike at the throats of their victims, as well as faceless warriors with black skulls in place of heads, known as the Dark Killing Curse, each with the strength of at least fifteen grades and capable of attacking dozens simultaneously. Her approach is often described as slow and relentless: the dark figure advances toward her victim to the rhythm of her leather boots, unhurried no matter how loudly she is called out to. The Dark Maiden's appearances are scattered across many chapters of the narrative, from the early confrontations with warriors such as Kreviera, who repels her emissaries with a black sword, to the later trials involving characters like Faylesse with a silver dagger and James, surrounded by warriors in black armor. She is also known simply as the Dark One, and she acts as a source of curses, attacks from the shadows, and magical traps directed against the heroes.
