Chapter 760: Return to the Wizards

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 1,006 words

With a single word, the numerous Tier Six existences bowed their heads! The terror of the power of Law was truly beyond imagination!

"With the Gluttony Rule, it wouldn't be too troublesome to bring these gluttony beast herds under control given enough time. It's a pity, though…"

Leilin glanced at the eyes of those enormous gluttony beasts and shook his head.

"I can't very well bring them back to the Wizard World. Besides, what I truly rely on is the Devouring Rule, which doesn't mesh with these gluttony beasts. Most importantly, their root power is still Beelusebabu's gluttony force — the roots grew crooked, and no amount of correction will fix that!"

"Perish! Innate Rule — Devour!"

The colossal Devil Winged Serpent materialized behind Leilin, spanning the horizon. In an instant, a terrifying black hole formed.

Countless gluttony beasts wailed in agony, yet they seemed gripped by invisible, titanic forces, utterly unable to move as they watched themselves vanish into the black hole.

"No! I am the Second Elder of the Stewart family! I was destined to shatter the bloodline shackles and lead my family to glory! Why… why is this happening?!"

A massive three-headed serpent had sensed something wrong the moment the black hole appeared and began to flee with desperate speed, yet it still could not escape the doom of being devoured.

Amid reluctant roars of defiance, its voice gradually faded into the black hole.

The invisible pulling force continued to spread across the grasslands. Gluttony beasts of every tier, without exception, were all wailing as they were cast into the black hole.

After a few minutes, every gluttony beast around the Holy City had been swept clean.

"I'm starting to feel a little full!"

Leilin rubbed his stomach with a somewhat speechless expression. After devouring so many gluttony beasts, he felt faint currents of warmth spreading through his entire body before vanishing.

At that moment, the Chip's notification also came through: 【Ding! Tier Six Innate Ability — Power of Devouring feedback! Host has absorbed trace amounts of essence! Strength increased by 0.001! Constitution increased by 0.002!】

"Now that I've entered the quasi-seventh tier, energy beneath the level of Law is practically useless to me!"

Leilin shook his head.

Having now grasped nearly the entirety of the Devouring Rule, his body had become a Body of Law — something incomparable to what he had been before.

The essence of all the gluttony beasts on the Plain of Ten Thousand Serpents was, to him, merely a small supplement.

"Time to leave!"

Leilin's gaze swept across the Holy City. Because he had deliberately held back earlier, the Devouring force had not absorbed a single resident of the Holy City. As a result, all the snakefolk within now stared blankly in Leilin's direction, particularly at the terrifying Tagarian Winged Serpent, having virtually lost the ability to speak.

"What's going on? I saw the Holy Mother appear, then everything seemed to freeze — so why did it show up after that?"

Belinda stared dazedly at the Devil Winged Serpent's silhouette. "Why… why does that thing give me a feeling that's somehow familiar? Could it be a power from the Holy Mother's secret treasury?"

"I found you." A gentle voice rang in Belinda's ear, and then she felt her entire body grow light, as though someone had lifted her up. The scenery before her eyes shifted in an instant.

By the time she came to her senses once more, she was already outside the Holy City.

"Sister!" A cry of delight rang out as Sophia threw herself into Belinda's arms, tears rolling down her cheeks without cease — she had clearly been terrified earlier.

"Good girl, Sophia!" Belinda patted Sophia's back, then caught sight of Agnes, who looked somewhat dazed and hollow.

Of course, what drew her attention most was the figure standing nearby, clad in black robes, as majestic as a deity itself.

Jet-black hair, eyes dark as the night itself, an unfamiliar yet godlike youthful face — everything about him was flawless, yet Belinda felt a vague sense of familiarity.

"Belinda! Sophia! And Agnes! We meet again! Allow me to reintroduce myself — I am Leilin Farell! The Nick you knew before was merely an alias!"

Leilin looked at the three snake-women before him, each with their own distinct style, and smiled faintly as he delivered the words that made their expressions change dramatically.

Searching the entire city in an instant with the power of rules and pulling Belinda and the other two here — it was nothing more than a trivial effort for Leilin.

"You're… Nick?"

Belinda's mouth hung half-open, her expression somewhat blank.

No matter how she tried, she simply could not connect this man — who had wiped out a horde of Gluttony Beasts with a casual wave of his hand — with that Nick.

Furthermore, the previous Nick had platinum-white long hair, scarlet pupils, and numerous age wrinkles. In no way could he possibly be linked to the being standing before her now.

No! If she set all of that aside, the shape of his face still bore a resemblance!

Belinda's pupils contracted as she finally understood where her earlier sense of familiarity had come from.

"So should I call you Brother Nick from now on, or Brother Leilin?" Sophia, on the other hand, was biting her finger, looking quite troubled.

"That's entirely up to you, of course, but I personally prefer 'Lein'!"

"Leilin Farell! The wanted Wizard! The existence cursed by the Holy Mother!"

Agnes recited Leilin's history with a completely expressionless face.

"You've done well! You used our Steward family! Where is the Holy Mother?" Although no emotion showed on her face, Agnes's heart was sinking deeper by the moment.

First, the Second Elder's betrayal had caused a catastrophic failure for the Steward family. Then came Leilin's appearance — it was under the Steward family's protection that he had been able to inflict such devastating losses here.

After this catastrophe, would the Steward family even have the chance to rise again?
