Under the halo of the purple moon, two earth-yellow figures raced across the open plains.
Those two earth-yellow figures were, in fact, earth-yellow ground lizards, and seated upon their backs were two figures wrapped tightly head to toe, with only their scarlet pupils exposed, glinting with a cold light from time to time.
"These ground lizards are great for traveling!"
Lei Lin gazed at the lower limbs of his mount. Upon its hooked claws were translucent membranes of flesh, and dense energy particles gathered upon them, making it easy to traverse complex terrain like jungles and swamps.
"Once we pass through the Dream Forest, we'll reach the White River Shoal Valley — my family is there too!"
Belinda's voice came from beside him, but without the slightest hint of joy.
"The Dream Forest? That name?" Lei Lin was somewhat puzzled. He looked around, but all he could see was barren wasteland — no forest of any kind in sight.
"The Dream Forest! Dreaming! Could it be..."
Lei Lin's pupils contracted slightly. Combined with what he knew about the Devil White Phosphorus Snake's bloodline abilities, a possibility immediately came to mind.
【Ding! Spatial fluctuations detected ahead — assessed as contact with the Dream World's ritual cycle!】At that moment, the Chip's mechanical voice also rang out.
"Yes... my family — the ones known as the White Devils — love to linger in the gaps between dreams. They often lure disoriented travelers inside and feed on them..."
Belinda's voice turned cold.
And Lei Lin immediately recalled the Chip's entry on the Devil White Phosphorus Snake: "They like to torture their prey within dreams before feasting?"
Wisps of dark red mist began to materialize, shrouding the surroundings in a hazy fog.
After passing through the mist, a bizarre forest materialized directly before Lei Lin's eyes.
Black branches and leaves crisscrossed in a tangled web. Many of the colossal trees were entirely bare, their leafless forms resembling grotesque, withered arms ceaselessly waving.
【Ding! Subject has entered the Dream Domain!】
The Chip's alert came through directly.
"The Dream Domain! Neither the Dream World nor the Hail Continent, but an overlapping region between the two — and it's said to be rife with all manner of bizarre occurrences... And right now, I've entered it with my actual body!"
Chapter 566. The White Phosphorus Serpent of Dreams
There was a peculiar glow in Rillin's eyes. Compared to his previous dream encounters, this time he had entered the Dream World with his actual body — just as he had done when first exploring the Dream Domain.
Although the protection of his physical form reduced the influence of external dreamforce on his true spirit, should anything go wrong, extricating himself would prove far more troublesome.
"The White Devil bloodline in our veins will temporarily shield us from dream-plague creatures. Stay close to me!" Belinda called out to Rillin from ahead.
"The Bloodline of the White Phosphorus Devil Serpent!" Rillin activated his own power, letting a layer of white serpentine scales cover his body's surface. Sure enough, once they had crossed into the dream territory, these scales became noticeably smoother and more luminous — as if alive, they breathed in the dark red dreamforce like a wanderer finally returned home, not a trace of unfamiliarity about them.
And the oppressive weight this dream forest had laid upon Rillin before completely vanished without a trace.
"As expected of the White Phosphorus Devil Serpent — the favored child of dreams, a direct descendant of the Mother of Ten Thousand Serpents who inherited a portion of her dream-related powers!"
Admiration flickered in Rillin's eyes. "Chip! Perform a full scan of the surrounding environment. Establish a task: investigate the White Phosphorus Devil Serpent's ability to traverse the Dream World!"
【Ding! Task established. Beginning data collection!】The Chip faithfully carried out Rillin's command.
A pure-blooded White Phosphorus Devil Serpent could traverse the Dream World in its physical body directly — just as the original incursion and assault upon Rillin had demonstrated. Belinda, as a half-blood, had inherited only a limited ability to commune with the Dream World and draw upon its dreamforce.
Rillin himself did not carry the White Phosphorus Devil Serpent bloodline, but he possessed fifth-grade White Phosphorus Devil Serpent blood essence, and with such favorable conditions, having the Chip analyze a method for physical entry to and from the Dream World would be of tremendous benefit to him.
"If I could master this technique — entering and leaving the Dream World at will, anywhere, anytime — then perhaps…"
Flames seemed to burn fiercely in both of Rillin's eyes.
Being able to freely enter and leave the Dream World in one's physical body meant not only access to vast quantities of dreamforce and the enormous resources of an entire world, but also the ability to roam across multiple worlds by exploiting the Dream World's boundless spatial properties.
After all, within dreams, the very concepts of distance and time restrictions were nothing but a joke.
"So it seems Belinda's earlier talk about teleportation arrays was all a fiction. The real teleportation uses the dream forest as a springboard to traverse directly to the Serpent Mother's Plains…"
Rillin analyzed silently.
Of course, using the Dream World as a waystation was no easy matter. Setting aside the monsters and dangers one might encounter, that deeply unpredictable nature of the place alone was enough to give wizards a serious headache.
Belinda's ancestors must have spent countless years and devoted untold effort to discover this passage.
