A Wizard's power lay in using Spiritual Power to draw upon the energy particles in the air, forming spells.
The current Leylin, even with just a single syllable uttered, could trigger mysterious changes once Spiritual Power was infused into it.
A blazing ball of flame suddenly coalesced before Leylin, and a massive wall of fire spread outward, blocking the white searing light from reaching him.
The other black-armored soldiers could only watch as the youth opposite them uttered a single syllable, after which an enormous volume of fire appeared out of thin air and annihilated the laser beams in mutual destruction — while the youth himself remained completely unharmed.
Clatter! One of the armored soldiers involuntarily loosened his grip, letting his laser rifle clatter to the ground.
Even though they had been through numerous bloody battles and rigorous training, they had never witnessed anything this bizarre.
"A superpowered!" the leader cried out in shock.
"A superpowered? So that's what people in your world call those who command mysterious powers?"
Leylin chuckled, clasping his hands behind his back as he surveyed the surroundings, a hint of nostalgia flickering in his eyes.
"Is this a dreamscape? Or a world generated from my own memories? A lot of things resemble my previous life, but there are some different elements mixed in…"
"Our target this time is only her! You can leave!"
The leader spoke in a grave tone. As one of the few higher-ups who knew of the existence of superpowers, how could he be unaware of how terrifying they were?
"Scram!" But the current Leylin regarded them with cold indifference, as though observing a few ants.
"You—" The captain's face flushed crimson. He suddenly yanked a glowing ring from his waist.
"Composite Magnetic Storm Type 2! A weapon specifically developed to counter superpowered individuals! If you're willing to leave, we can pretend none of this ever happened…"
"Hmm! Interesting!" But in the next instant, the captain's hand was empty — the ring had somehow appeared in Leylin's grasp in the blink of an eye.
"A spatial ability? Or superhuman speed?" Beads of cold sweat trickled down the captain's forehead.
"Ignorant and foolish!"
Leylin gave the man a look of pity, the chilling cold in his gaze making the captain feel as though he had plunged into an ice cellar.
A superpowered who could snatch a weapon from his hand in an instant and leave him utterly powerless to resist was absolutely beyond anything he could handle — and chances were all of his men would die here!
"Run!" the captain screamed, a compact laser rifle already materializing in his hand. Deadly beams of light fired continuously toward Leylin.
Tsss! Tsss! A torrent of light beams was deflected by a golden barrier of light, followed by a massive eruption of flame.
Light — the beautiful red glow blooming from the inferno was the last scene the captain ever saw in this world.
Carol stood there in a daze. She could clearly sense that this Leylin was vastly different from the one before. He seemed far more confident, and an aura of power perpetually surrounded him.
Although Carol had previously dismissed things like auras as nothing but a joke, she now understood that this world truly had powerhouses among it.
In barely more than a flash of red light, all of those terrifying enemies had been reduced to ashes. If a person like this wasn't a powerhouse, then who could possibly be?
"Your name is Carol, right?" The person across from her was still the same familiar figure, with the same familiar voice, yet Carol couldn't help but take several steps backward.
"Who are you? Stay away! Where did Brother Leylin go?"
Tears had already begun to well up in the eyes of this tough little girl.
But even though she desperately wanted to flee from the person in front of her, an invisible force pushed her forward, right up to Leylin.
"So you're the focal point of this world?"
Leylin gazed at the little girl before him with a smile, speaking words that left her completely baffled. "By using emotions to lure a choice, no matter what decision is made, the true spirit will be forever lost in this world in the end?"
Carol found that she understood every single word Leylin said, but when strung together, she couldn't make sense of any of it.
"It seems I've been targeted by someone!"
Leylin stroked his chin. "How do I get out of here? Chip!"
【Ding! The host has been affected by unknown radiation. True spirit is lost!】
【Ding! The host has encountered a mental fog, causing cognitive obstruction. Initiating projection of guidance coordinates!】
Unlike last time, the Chip responded immediately this time. Dense rows of status information flooded the display.
The Chip had originally been fused with Leylin's soul as one. No matter where Leylin was, as long as his true spirit still existed, the Chip would continue to exist as well.
The other party could only temporarily sever this connection — they couldn't cut it off completely.
The Chip was even actively trying to awaken Leylin's true spirit on its own, which was one of the reasons he had been able to snap out of the world's fog so quickly.
"Chip! Scan! The target is the entire world!"
Leylin commanded.
