Chapter 288. Injuries

January 17, 2020 · 4 min read · 742 words

Under the massive spatial tearing, cracking sounds constantly emanated from Leilin's body, and blood gushed out like a spring.

"Warning! Warning! Main body has entered a critically injured state! Estimated countdown to cellular collapse under spatial tearing: 8 seconds!"

The Chip projected a string of red text before Leilin's eyes.

"Even with my constitution, I've ended up like this! How exactly did ancient wizards withstand this kind of spatial force?"

Leilin's expression was ferocious, veins bulging all over his body, and his eyes had taken on a faint reddish tint.

Just as the Chip's countdown reached the final second, the silver light dissipated, revealing a pitch-black opening.

Leilin rallied his spirits and charged straight toward the opening.

Pop! It felt as though he had pierced through an invisible membrane of water. Leilin instantly arrived in the real world, and the massive spatial pressure from before had vanished without a trace.

"That was close!" Leilin's vision was blurred. Using the last of his strength, he traced a red line to destroy a symbol on the teleportation array beneath him, then finally passed out…

Drip! Drip!

The stalactites above the cavern dripped pale red droplets onto the ground in a steady rhythm.

Leilin's eyelids fluttered, and he opened his eyes.

"Ugh!" He clutched his forehead, feeling that there wasn't a single part of his body that wasn't in excruciating pain.

"Chip! Analyze my current condition!"

Leilin immediately called out in his mind.

"Leilin Farell. Warlock, Rank 2. Bloodline: Comoin Giant Serpent. Strength: 15 (21.1). Agility: 4 (14.4). Constitution: 19 (27.9). Spiritual Power: 0.01 (104.3). Mana: 0 (Mana is synchronously determined by Spiritual Power). Condition: Severe contusions across multiple body tissues, Spiritual Power depleted!"

The Chip provided its feedback quickly. Looking at his current state, Leilin couldn't help but let a bitter smile surface.

Because he had underestimated the risks of spatial transmission and hadn't taken adequate precautions, this journey through the spatial passage had nearly cost him his life.

Now, not only had all his physical attributes dropped, but even his Spiritual Power had been depleted.

In this state, an ordinary wizard would likely have already perished, but Leilin's constitution was extraordinary enough for him to remain conscious.

"This time it's a truly serious injury! Avik, one day, I will return…"

A hint of coldness surfaced in Leilin's eyes before his gaze shifted to his waist.

When he saw the black leather pouch still there, a look of relief finally appeared on his face.

That spatial pouch truly deserved its status as a high-grade Magical Item. Though it possessed no offensive capability, its defensive power was remarkable, and with the spatial runes on its surface providing protection, it had sustained no damage at all.

Fortunately, that was the case—otherwise, all of Leilin's possessions would have been lost.

"For an ordinary wizard, even if they somehow survived injuries like these, they'd need to spend an enormous amount of time recovering—and it could even cause their wizard rank to regress!"

Leilin carefully examined his physical condition. Although his entire body was riddled with severe injuries, he could faintly sense a cold current brimming with vitality and vigor continuously emanating from his heart. This current was being transported through his blood to every part of his body, and under its influence, his wounds were healing on their own. Though the progress was extremely slow, it was steady and unceasing.

"The physical self-healing ability of a Bloodline Warlock is simply too powerful!" A hint of joy surfaced in Leilin's eyes. "And some of the potions I have on hand can accelerate this process as well…"

With that thought, he laboriously raised his only mobile right hand, pulled a pink healing potion from the pouch, bit the stopper off with his teeth, and gulped it down in large swallows.

Boom! A layer of pink light instantly enveloped Leilin's entire body.

Under its effect, his horrifying injuries were recovering at an astonishing pace.

Crack! Crunch! Sounds of bones clicking back into place constantly rang out from Leilin's body.

His facial muscles twisted continuously, heavy breaths escaped his nose, and even breathing was labored and taxing.

After a few minutes like this, the pink light around Leilin's body completely dissipated. Snap! Leilin shot up into the air, shifting from his previous half-reclined position on the array to a standing stance.

"The external injuries are all healed. The internal damage is more troublesome, but at least it won't interfere with basic movement!"
