Currency

There are several types of currency introduced in the novel. In the Waking World, Credits are equivalent to money, used to purchase goods and services such as the use of public terminals.

In the Dream Realm, Minted Coins are used: as the human population grew in the citadels, using soul shards as currency became unsuitable. As a replacement, the Great Clans began minting their own coins, each containing a small amount of essence, with their value backed by the shard treasuries each clan possessed. Many Awakened carried coins for emergencies, as they could absorb this essence.
