The Ink Ancestor Elder then told Human Ancestor, "Although Wisdom Gu does indeed frequently dwell within the Crystal Wall of Heaven and Earth, it hides deep within. If you wish to find it, you must penetrate deeper into the Crystal Wall. To go deeper into the Crystal Wall, merely using Ink Text records to form text-block bricks as stepping stones will not do. These bricks only depict and record all sorts of information — that is superficial. They cannot withstand the washing away of other information. The limited Ink Texts within the bricks will constantly shift their content and then quickly dissipate, unable to persist for very long at all."
The Ink Ancestor Elder continued, "Human, you must refine these records into knowledge. Only knowledge can better explain more information. When you depict knowledge using Ink Texts, what you create are no longer text-block bricks, but a true road."
Human Ancestor was quite troubled. "But how can I refine knowledge?"
The Ink Ancestor Elder smiled. "On Book Mountain there are many Book Worms. They carry a great deal of knowledge that our Ink Ancestor forebears refined. Human, you should take a good look."
"If you want to refine knowledge yourself, it is not difficult either. First, you must use a Memory Gu to store all of that information in your mind. Then..."
Before the Ink Ancestor Elder could finish, Thought Gu appeared and continued addressing Human Ancestor, "Then, I can help you refine knowledge."
The Ink Ancestor Elder nodded with a smile. "That's right. Thinking can produce knowledge."
Human Ancestor said, "Then I am truly grateful to you both."
The Ink Ancestor Elder shook his head. "No need for thanks."
Thought Gu said, "Don't say that, Human. We have always been good friends, and besides, doing this benefits me as well."
If thought does not accept fresh information, it will gradually become stale and withered. Only by accepting new information, constantly thinking, and nourishing itself with what thinking produces can thought remain strong, healthy, radiant, and ever-new.
Human Ancestor gathered many Book Worms on Book Mountain and obtained a great deal of knowledge.
Then, with the help of Thought Gu, he distilled many new pieces of knowledge from the vast sea of information.
He depicted the knowledge in Ink Texts and scattered them on the ground. Sure enough, a narrow, ink-black path formed.
Human Ancestor and Great Strength True Martial walked along this path for a long way — farther than any of their previous attempts.
"Oh no, my knowledge has run out," Human Ancestor said with great frustration when he reached the end of the path. He had collected plenty of Ink Texts, but the knowledge in his mind was far too little.
Human Ancestor and Great Strength True Martial's first attempt had failed, and the two of them had no choice but to return to Book Mountain.
Great Strength True Martial continued gathering Ink Texts, while Human Ancestor collected every last Book Worm. Then, with Thought Gu's help, he refined even more knowledge.
The knowledge grew and grew, until Human Ancestor felt his mind was completely full.
"I possess so very much knowledge!" Human Ancestor declared proudly, brimming with confidence. "Let us set out again. This time we will surely reach the deepest depths of the Crystal Wall of Heaven and Earth!"
However, their second attempt also ended in failure.
"Why is this happening? My mind is clearly already filled with knowledge," Human Ancestor said, crestfallen. "I can only remember so much knowledge."
"No, Human, look again more carefully," Self Gu suddenly spoke up, reminding him.
Human Ancestor examined his mind and discovered a Gu hidden within it.
He suddenly understood. "So it was you occupying my mind, preventing me from filling it with more knowledge. What Gu are you, exactly?"
This Gu answered, "I am Arrogance Gu."
Human Ancestor grew anxious. "Then get out quickly! You are taking up so much space — think of how much knowledge I could fit in there!"
But no matter how anxious Human Ancestor became, no matter how he pleaded, Arrogance Gu simply refused to leave.
Human Ancestor was at his wit's end when Great Strength True Martial spoke up. "Father, don't be anxious. Don't forget that I have a Humility Gu. I'll give it to you."
Great Strength True Martial produced the Humility Gu and handed it to Human Ancestor.
Arrogance Gu was chased away by Humility Gu and had no choice but to fly out of Human Ancestor's mind and into Great Strength True Martial's body.
Strength Gu was delighted. "The strong naturally have their pride!"
Having driven Arrogance Gu from his mind, Human Ancestor returned to Book Mountain once more and continued refining knowledge.
With Humility Gu now in his possession, the more knowledge Human Ancestor gained, the less he felt he knew — and the more he wanted to fill himself with even more.
Human Ancestor's mind gradually filled up again.
Self Gu urged him, "Human, stop quickly. Your mind is already packed with knowledge."
But Human Ancestor replied, "But I still don't think it's enough. I am certain there is still a great deal of knowledge I don't know that needs to be refined."
Human Ancestor went on refining knowledge. His mind swelled and ached — it could hold no more. Yet Humility Gu kept making him feel that what he possessed was still pitifully little.
Suddenly, with a deafening crack, Human Ancestor's mind could no longer withstand the pressure and burst apart from the sheer volume of knowledge.
Knowledge scattered across the ground, and from among it, a young girl rose to her feet.
"Father, Father!" The girl happily hugged Human Ancestor's leg. "My name is Carefree Wisdom Heart. I am your daughter!"
