Chapter 0645. Sprint

January 17, 2020 · 3 min read · 627 words

The Red-clothed ghost from Xiao Bu's neighbor's house was far more terrifying than Chen Ge had imagined. In truth, this was partly his own fault—after spending so much time dealing with ghosts below the Red-clothed tier, he had forgotten the terror of being dominated by one.

That extreme shade of crimson represented danger and something you should never provoke. The moment the female ghost appeared, the survival instinct branded into Chen Ge's very bones was ignited.

Before the killer even had time to react, Chen Ge had already darted far ahead.

"When Xiao Bu first pushed open the door, she should have been just an ordinary child. How did she survive in the world behind the door?"

Killers, fierce ghosts, grey-skinned monsters—in this town that was like a waking nightmare, not even adults had any hope of survival. Yet a little girl had somehow made it through. Chen Ge found it incredible.

Dragging the Skull-crushing Hammer, Chen Ge ran for his life. He didn't dare look back; all he could hear was the constant thudding from behind, along with a sound like rushing water.

He knew—that Red-clothed ghost was right behind him.

The passengers had all been standing in the middle of the residential compound. They stared at the blood mist that permeated the town, huddled together, terrified that in the blink of an eye they would be dragged into the fog by monsters.

Without Chen Ge, they felt as though they had lost their anchor—not a shred of security left.

"Run!" Chen Ge's voice echoed from the residential compound. This was the first time the passengers had ever heard him scream at the top of his lungs. In their minds, that man had always been calm no matter what happened, as if he were incapable of fear.

As it turned out, they were wrong. It wasn't that the man couldn't feel fear—he simply hadn't encountered anything truly terrifying yet!

The passengers heard Chen Ge's voice and slowly turned to look in his direction.

In his left hand he gripped a travel bag and backpack. In his right, he dragged a grotesque "prop hammer." A white cat with bristling fur clung tightly to his shoulder. Chen Ge's expression was almost twisted as he pumped his legs and sprinted toward them. "Run left! To the restaurant! The restaurant!"

At first, they didn't understand why Chen Ge was losing it like this. But after barely a fraction of a second, their gaze slid past him to what was behind.

A headless female corpse stepped out of the pitch-black corridor. Countless threads of blood scattered from her neck, weaving together into a massive red net. And at the end of that net hung a terrifying, evil human head!

"Holy crap!"

"What the hell did you provoke?!"

"Run!"

The Red-clothed ghost's presence far surpassed that of ordinary ghosts. The moment they saw the female ghost, the passengers reacted just as Chen Ge had—they sprinted away at full speed.

They didn't dare even imagine what would happen if they were caught. Their minds went blank, leaving only a single thought—run! Run now!

The female ghost was far faster than she had been in the game. Chen Ge ran with everything he had, yet the distance between them continued to shrink.

"Good thing I had that killer go in to test the waters. If I had checked the door myself without those few seconds of buffer time, I'd probably have been dragged into that room by now."

Without disturbing Zhang Ya, the only one on Chen Ge's side who could hold off the headless female ghost for any length of time was Xu Yin.

"Once I complete the Liwan Town trial, I'm going to help Xu Yin find his heart no matter what!"
