Blood slowly seeped through the crack in the door, staining the entire thing red.
The world beyond became hazy, his body enveloped in blood-red mist, giving him the sensation of sinking into a thick liquid.
He swung the Skull Crusher, took a shallow breath, and the faint stench of blood flooded his nostrils, making him slightly uncomfortable.
"Every time I enter the world beyond the door, my heart races for no reason. I always feel like something deep in this world is calling out to me."
Chen Ge had
"The world beyond the door should affect Red-clothed Ghosts too. It's saturated with all kinds of negative emotions, heaped with the despair of the mortal world. The longer you stay, the heavier the resentment is bound to become, and the harder it is to find release."
With Xu Yin at his side, Chen Ge felt bold and confident. He pushed open the doors of one sickroom after another, but none of them showed
"Where'd he run off to?" Chen Ge reached the end of the corridor and spotted the words "Electrotherapy Room." "Last time I came through, this is where I ran into Men Nan."
He pushed open the electrotherapy room door. On the ice-cold bed lay a heap of blood-red instruments, their cables all connected to an old man's severed head.
Chen Ge took a look and found it somewhat familiar. This old man was the director of the Third Ward. Because he was terminally ill, he had colluded with the patients to enter the world beyond the door and ambush Men Nan.
"Long time no see, old Director." Chen Ge walked over with great warmth, the picture of someone running into an old acquaintance.
The old man looked noticeably more haggard. He was extremely weak, yet even in this state, the moment he heard Chen Ge's voice, he forced his eyes open immediately.
"You..."
The sight of Chen Ge brought back memories of that impossibly violent Red-clothed Ghost, and whatever he had been about to say died in his throat.
"What's the matter? Got a problem with me?" Chen Ge sat himself down beside the old man's head, his tone easy and relaxed, as though he were just dropping in on a neighbor.
The old man stared at Chen Ge, so close at hand, his eyes darting this way and that as if hatching some foul scheme.
But almost immediately he saw Xu Yin step out from behind Chen Ge.
"Another Red-clothed Ghost?"
Blood-red pupils fixed on the old man, Xu Yin's gaze brimming with undisguised malice. It was as though the instant Chen Ge gave the word, he would tear his target to shreds without a second thought.
The old man abandoned his scheme and looked helplessly at the two bandit-like figures in the room, his voice even weaker now: "What are you here for?"
"Where is Men Nan's main personality? I need to find him about something." Chen Ge wasn't worried about the old Director trying any tricks. The old fellow may have been full of schemes, but when it came to raw strength, he was nothing short of a disgrace among Red-clothed Ghosts.
"He should be on the fourth floor right now. The window up there cracked, and he's patching it up." The old man spoke rapidly, clearly hoping to get Xu Yin and Chen Ge out of his hair as quickly as possible.
"You'd better know what happens if you lie to me." Chen Ge knew the old man probably wasn't bluffing, but he was a cautious person.
