Chapter 230: SURPRISE!

January 17, 2020 · 4 min read · 841 words

"Is this the room?"

Several visitors stepped into Ward Three. The room was completely empty — not a soul inside.

"Are you sure you didn't see wrong?" Song An held up Guo Miao and did a quick sweep of the room. There was nowhere here that could hide a person.

"I definitely saw a face! The person was wearing a doctor's coat, and the face was stitched together. It flickered into view, then retreated back into the ward."

Su Luoluo was absolutely certain. While everyone else had their attention fixed on Ward Ten, she had been the only one watching her back.

"Enough, let's stop looking." Guo Miao's voice was weak — his calves were still trembling. "Let's just leave."

"That can't be right. I had my eyes locked on Ward Three the entire time, and that face never came out. It should still be in there." Su Luoluo grabbed Xiao Du's arm. "You were in the corridor just now too — did you see it?"

"I think so… I'm not entirely sure."

Du Chao couldn't say for certain. The group lingered for a few more moments before retracing their steps and heading for the exit.

"Leaving just like that?" rushed out of the hidden passage with the Skull Crusher in hand, trailing behind the visitors. "Ah, whatever — the Tianteng Hospital fans are waiting outside. I'll save them some face."

He entered Ward Ten. "When the hidden mission triggered, several visitors were right here."

Everything in the room appeared normal, except for a few shoe prints left on the bedding. walked over to the prints and noticed the face on the wall had undergone a subtle change in expression.

He crouched down, slid his fingers into the mouth of the face, and fished out a flyer.

"Looks like one of the visitors spotted this too."

tucked the flyer away, crossed into the bathroom opposite the electroshock room, and carried out a female mannequin. He dressed her in a faceless nurse's uniform, wanting to send the visitors off with one last little gift.

Stepping out of Ward Ten, caught a faint sound drifting from the far end of Corridor Three.

He glanced in that direction and spotted the person, but said nothing.

After turning the corner, he leaned his back against the wall and waited in silence.

A few seconds later, light footsteps echoed down the corridor. The person following him was extremely cautious.

The footsteps hugged the wall. In this pitch-black, blood-soaked hallway, danger could lunge from any angle at any time — only the solid wall could offer a sliver of security.

They drew closer. The corner blocked their line of sight. Worried that hadn't gone far, the person didn't step around the corner directly but instead mirrored his exact posture — back pressed against the cracked wall, long legs braced straight, upper body leaning forward, bending at the waist to peek half a face around the edge.

"Looking for me?"

Their eyes met. Ye Xiaoxi's breathing stopped. Her heart rate spiked. Her consciousness narrowed to her vision alone, her ears roaring — she couldn't hear a thing!

Rapid heat loss was triggering hypothermia. Her body trembled involuntarily.

looked down at the short-haired woman, her stitched-together face slightly distorted. Without a word, he raised the hideous Skull Crusher in his hand.

BOOM!

The hammerhead came down and smashed into the wall a good two feet above the woman's head. Shards exploded outward, gravel spraying across her cheeks. Ye Xiaoxi suddenly realized — all of this was real.

The mask of composure was ripped away by brute force. Her entire face drained of color. She put everything she had into sprinting toward Ward Three.

"Don't run!"

controlled the distance — never closing enough to catch her, never falling far enough behind to let her forget. He kept her perpetually aware that he was right behind her.

The Skull Crusher scraped along the wall, producing a sound that turned her blood to ice. Ye Xiaoxi didn't dare look back. Only one thought remained in her mind — run!

She charged into Ward Three and dove into the hidden passage. was right on her heels.

The two raced through the passage in the blink of an eye and burst into the Director's Office.

Out in the corridor, the remaining visitors had no idea what was happening. They could only hear chaotic sounds spilling out from the rooms around them.

"Boss, I'm getting a bad feeling — like something's coming." Song An supported Guo Miao, glancing nervously to both sides.

"There are so many of us together. Even if a real monster showed up, there's no need to panic."

Guo Miao was trying to steady morale, but before he could finish, a disheveled woman came tearing out of the Director's Office.

Ye Xiaoxi burst forth with her hair in wild disarray. Spotting the others standing there frozen in shock, she screamed at them: "He's coming! Run! RUN!"
