After finishing his meal, carried the bedboard back to the staff break room. The moment he opened the door, he saw crouching by the entrance.

"What are you doing?"

"Boss, when did you get a cat? It's so pretty, but it won't let me touch it!" Xu Wan was clearly frustrated. "I really want to pet it."

"Don't bother. It's a stray—a bit hostile toward humans." Chen Ge entered the room and set the bedboard back in place. When the cat saw him approach, it didn't bristle up, though it did jump aside with a look of disdain.

"Then why doesn't it hate you?" Xu Wan was bewildered. Every time she got close to the white cat, it would immediately take an aggressive stance.

"Maybe it also recognizes me as a trustworthy person of noble character." Chen Ge sat on the bed and stretched. "Do you want to rest for a bit?"

"Forget it, you sleep. I'll wake you at one-fifteen." Xu Wan gazed at the white cat longingly. "What's its name?"

"I tried giving it a bunch of names, but it never reacted to any of them. In the end, when I called it ',' it got super worked up. I'm thinking about just calling it White Tiger from now on." Chen Ge looked at the white cat, seriously mulling it over.

"You named a cat White Tiger?" Xu Wan felt her entire worldview take a massive hit. "Fine, whatever makes you happy."

After Xu Wan left, Chen Ge looked at the white cat perched on the chair and felt a headache coming on.

This cat could see those filthy things. Even ghosts at Xiao Xiao's level were afraid of it. If he could make good use of it, this cat would become one of Chen Ge's trump cards. But it was still a living creature with a will of its own, and getting it to obey in a short period of time would be difficult.

After a night of adjustments, the white cat was no longer as hostile toward Chen Ge. It was a smart cat—it could tell who treated it well and who didn't.

"Your kittens are already gone. Even if you keep guarding their bodies, it won't change anything." Chen Ge deliberated for a long time, then stood up and picked up the basket. The white cat followed behind him. The man and the cat left the staff break room and headed to the haunted house entrance.

Using both hands, Chen Ge dug into the soil beside the landscaping tree. He gently placed the kittens inside. The whole time, he kept an eye on the white cat, afraid it might suddenly lose control.

"I understand your pain, and I know how important these kittens are to you. But you need to understand one thing." Chen Ge crouched on the ground, slowly pushing the soil from both sides into the pit. "Life is the starting point of death, and death is the inevitable destination of life. Burying the body is how the soul can live on forever."

He didn't know whether the white cat understood his words. It simply stared into the pit, watching as the four kittens were gradually covered by earth, its mismatched cat eyes flickering gently.

It didn't attack Chen Ge, nor did it lose its composure. It remained calm the entire time.

When Chen Ge scattered the last handful of soil, the white cat lay down in the pit. No matter how much he called out to it, there was no response.

It wasn't until the midday break ended and visitors gradually started arriving that the white cat finally left the pit and darted up into the tree canopy.

Chen Ge couldn't do anything about this cat. He gave the place a quick cleaning and opened for the afternoon session.

With a new two-star scenario added, many visitors who had just finished the Midnight Escape or the Phantom Wedding queued up again to experience it. The horror scenario rating system was already beginning to prove its worth.

You can't get it, so you want it even more. For thrill-seekers in particular, an unknown and mysterious new scenario held unprecedented appeal.

By the time closed for the day, the crowd outside the haunted house finally dispersed.

There was no time to rest—Chen Ge immediately headed out with Uncle Xu to retrieve the surveillance equipment stored in the park's inventory.
