Leppard's idea was originally to create a carriage that could be pedaled by a driver, and he was working on reducing the weight and expanding the levers to make it feasible. However, Sherlock suggested that he instead design a bicycle and funded him with 100 gold pounds to buy more parts as required. Leppard agreed and gave him 35% of the shares.
